Comment:

Dr. Lockyer's classes are all incredibly heavy on note-taking, but everything he writes on the board ends up on his tests. If you're not good with statistics and using them to work through questions, you'll struggle, but enough studying will keep you afloat. Can't read maps? You will fail. He's one of my favorite professors, but I love geography.

Comment:

I had Dr. Lockyer for GEOG 105 (Physical Geography) in the Spring of 2016. The class itself has a focus on earth science, and is difficult as a result. You'll cover just about everything from wind and weather to soil and vegetation in Physical Geography. He clearly knows what he's talking about and loves his profession. Would definitely recommend.

Don't by the textbook because you will never open it. He is kind of all over the place when he is going through the notes, but if you pay attention, you shouldn't get lost. He does give a study guide but sometimes not everything that is on the study guide is on the tests. The project isn't hard to complete, but he isn't clear on what he wants on it

Dr. Lockyer is a wonderful guy , very nice and helpful . But his class is something I would avoid unless you are very serious about studying and will put in a lot of effort . His tests are very tough , due to the overwhelming amount of information that he gives .

Dr. Lockyer is an older man that's been through a lot. His Geography class was difficult because of the amount of notes taken in class. There are A LOT of notes. All of the information from the notes is on the test, so basically you need to memorize as much as you can. It was definitely an interesting course.

Dr. Lockyer is a sweet man that knows his stuff but that is about it, if you do not know a bit about geography do not take him. the only test i passed was the take home test and the research project. his notes are all scrambled across the board & he does not use the book. this class was surely a cry for help. Avoid him at all cost if you can

Dr. Lockyer is the sweetest man ever! He is so nice and easy to talk to!! I love going to his class, it is very hard if you don't study your maps and miss class a lot! Hes always willing to help you though. you should take him but be prepared to take a lot of notes, study and laugh at his not funny jokes!! great person I think!! :)!!

I am the only freshman in a class of upperclassmen. Never having a GEO class before. I love this man!!You have to study maps or you will fail every test, but he teaches very thoroughly. He has bad jokes, but tries to make everyone laugh. DEFINITELY TAKE HIM , but make sure you study your notes and maps!

It was a very interesting course, which covered political geography with a hint of a historical background - exactly what is needed to make this course a college level. Exams were suppose to make you think and apply concepts as well as memorize a lot of facts, but overall is interesting. Maps counts up to 30% of the exam.

Lockyer is a semi nice guy but his class is much harder than it should be. This is the second class I've had him for. I made a B+ in the first class but had to work my hiney off to do so. He gives a study guide but its soooo lengthy/wordy and is pretty much useless. Don't take him unless you absolutely have no choice.

Dr. Lockyer is a very intelligent man and knows his stuff. His tests come completely from in-class notes. I never used the book for any of the three classes I had with him. If you can't pass his class with a C or better, college just isn't for you.

he is a sweet person, but his exams rarely follow the study guide and the study guide rarely follows the notes. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. i wouldn't recomend him but if you get him it can be done and he realy is adorable. i hear he gives extra credit if requested. no quizes or homework, drops lowest exam. 4 exams including final.1 easy project grade.

He is a great teacher. I learned a lot from his class. Do not buy the text book, though, he never uses it. He gives you all the information you need for tests in class. Study the study guides and maps and you will do well. The semester long project is super easy and helps your grade a lot. I recommend taking him.

Dr. Lockyer is very nice and helpful. His stories can be kind of boring, but he knows his material. He is very knowledgable. He is not hard if you come to class, take notes and remember the maps. He's a really nice guy. A bit scatter brained, but he doesn't hesitate to answer questions and help out. He's straightforward and tells you exactly what's on the test and although he doesn't provide maps, it's pretty much common sense what you have to study. He drops your lowest test grade. He may not be very focused, but he's not a bad guy.

Lockyer is a very sweet man but his class is stupid boring. DON'T take him if you seriously not interested in geography. His notes are scattered across the board and to make things worst, they're not even on the test. His maps are hard! His class is hard period. Consider taking another teacher PLEASE!Do not take LOCKYER.
