Dr Novak was a pretty good professor because she gave good feedback on essays and was understanding. Show up to class because she gives you pop quizzes

There are pop quizzes every week so make sure to do the readings. Participation matters, because it is a large portion of your grade. I suggest getting the textbook before class starts because she wastes no time getting into the material. The tests are based off of the reading, so if you attend class and pay attention in lecture you'll get an A.

A lot of reading, weekly quizzes, two exams, and 1 exam/in-class essay. Participation is NECESSARY. She is an amazing and insightful lecture - her lectures and class discussions made the exams so easy, because you are constantly going over the material, you understand it come the time of the exams. Great professor. Buy the book before first class!

She is very okay. The books we read are poorly written, and class honestly feels like a waste of my time. I think the class annoys me more so than Prof. Novak, I just really don't like going to this class bc its boring and our readings are not complex. Its only week 9 and I feel like its week 30. I can't take reading another cheesy YA book.

Professor Novak was very passionate and encouraged participation in class. There were a lot of essays and a final project, but you have plenty of time to do them. She walks you throw the process of writing the essays as well (rough draft, revision/editing, final draft.

Dr. Novak made my writing better. Everything is clear about what I had to do. The class is not easy or hard, just useful. She cares about her students. I would definitely taker one of her classes again.

Novak is amazing! But be ready to do a lot of online homework, its super easy though. You have to really participate; I didn't participate at the beginning and she hated me. I started to read a little and participate a lot and she ended up loving me. You really need to participate in this class. Overall, pretty easy class! She is very helpful!

LOTS of reading. She assigns approximately 150-200 pages to be read before every class, and you also have to do a blog-type assignment for every reading. Assignments are super unclear. It's hard to know what she's looking for. I had issues with my peers on a project and her response was "So what do you want me to do about it?" Just didn't care

Dr. Novak has been THE best professor I've ever had. Her lectures and choices of texts are very intellectually stimulating. This course wasn't an easy A, but neither was it unreasonably difficult. As long as you do the reading and participate a little every class, you can expect a good grade (A or B).

Dr. Novak is incredible. I have never learned so much about writing than I did with her! She is extremely helpful and supportive to her students. All you have to do is ask. She pushed me to become a better writer & to get my writing out there. She is one of my favorite professors at & I plan on keeping in contact with her as a mentor and friend.

Novak is overall a normal prof. There is nothing special about her, in fact I find her to be a bit snobby. She was also very unclear on a lot of her assignments and changed requirements on things many times throughout the semester. Moderately difficult grader, but not too hard. I would choose another professor if you can.

I really enjoyed this class. It was mostly discussion based, which I feel is very important for English classes. She seemed pretty friendly and encouraged discussion. There was weekly in-class writing, but that was really simple, only about a half a page. Other than that there were three papers about 5 pages each.

In the beginning I thought I would fail. She seems very difficult to please. You write 3 5-6 page papers and 1 revision. They're not too bad, just need to put in a lot of time. She doesn't grade hard on the paper. I was surprised about that. She takes attendance and grades participation.Overall, she's not bad just snobby. Became a better writer.

Don't know why she doesn't have a higher score... she's actually fairly nice & very knowledgeable. A few HW assignments, & 4 papers. The last paper is a revision. Got A's for the paper, but then again English/writing is my specialty ha. She grades hard but fair. Def take her for 301.

Came into the class interested in it. But I just really didn't like her attitude or the way she talked. Like the others have said, she's helpful but hard grader etc. But I just felt like she was way too snobby. Not bad overall though. The one thing I liked was the pop culture basis of the class assignments.

I love Novak! Second time I've taken her! I took her for 221 and 300. She's so much fun and she's so easy! She is a little bit hard on grading papers. I got an A- on every paper in 300 so I was lucky! A lot of my classmates barely got B+'s. Ask her for help! And do what she says! She's awesome!
