Lectures to be watched outside of class and discuss in class. Doesnt let the other professor speak. She is super boring and uninteresting.

If you only care about easy "A"s, save us all your whining and skip Dr. Van Dijk. If you are interested in a deep dive into fascinating material on the Medieval art and narrative, you will love her. She is always prepared, knows her stuff, is a wonderful teacher, and cares about her students. She treasures class participation. Has high expectation.

I didn't really care for the topic at first, but by the end I really enjoyed it. She really wants you to get a good grade and as long as you show up to the lectures, you will.

Knowledgeable. Clear. Easy to listen to. Tough. The biggest downfall of her class is the classroom itself. It's dark, cool, and positively coma-inducing. I would find myself enthralled one moment and passed out the next. Use the library's copy of the textbook, don't buy it. The important readings are her Blackboard articles.

Van Dijk is great, very clear, easy to listen to and really makes it interesting. The way the class is set up is good for this because the teacher switches every two weeks which makes sure you don't get bored with any one, they keep it interesting. I'd recommend the class overall and definitely Van Dijk.

I liked Van Dijk a lot, she was very clear about what was going to be on the test and also made art history seem applicable to my life (hard to do!). I liked the format of 282 because the teachers talk about their own specialties in art history so they know what they're talking about and are very knowledgeable.

This class is confusing as you get 5 different professors. She was probably my favorite as she is a good speaker. The rest of the teachers are pretty boring but she is nice to listen to and actually makes it interesting. When she was teaching I didn't skip any of the classes.

First of all.... DO NOT TAKE ARTH 282!!! If you want an A, just drop this class right now!! In this class you switch teachers every two weeks. Ann was probably the best teacher, but she grades papers REALLY tough and her exam is super difficult. I was a straight A student until this class.... If you just need a B or a C, this class would be okay.

First off, do NOT take ARTH 282. You will regret it. You get a new teacher every 2 weeks, therefore making it so hard to study for exams. The grade scale also makes it so hard to get an A!! Anywho- Ann was probably the best teacher out of all of them. I managed to pass her test. Make sure you write a perfect paper though, she expects a lot.

Avoid the class. Doesnt use a book and if you dont get every single word spoken you will not be able to answer some questions on the quizzes. She talks a mile a minute and you are going to miss stuff. There are only pictures on the slides no words to write. Also she added a project finals week worth 54% more in the discussion section of the class.

I felt that her exams were easier then Prof. Bell but her grading on essay questions & for the paper was really harsh. Got a c in the course.

She is very clear on what to study, and her tests are easy as long as you study. Has a very narrative quality in her lectures, which makes it easier to follow along

Better than some of the 282 professors you get. Her quiz wasn't too bad, and she makes it pretty clear what is important and you should focus on while she's lecturing.

Boring. Boring. Did I mention boring? She may know her stuff, but she cannot relate to her students. I felt she was often egotistical (as someone mentioned early), and she mispronounes a lot of words...just weird. Avoid her. She seems to have no interest in the material, and it makes for a terrible class.

Overall bad teacher. She seems to have no passion for what she is teaching. Often appears to be annoyed with students. She is just plain boring. She is not an extremely hard teacher, but she does little to make the material interesting.

This was probably one of the hardest, but also one of the most rewarding classes I have taken. She's very organized, and gives you everything you need to get an A. You just have to attend class regularly and take very good notes. She's very nice and helpful, she just expects a lot from her students. I definately learned a lot from her.

Professor Van Dijk was a great teacher. She followed her "monuments" list to a "t" Just go to class and take notes and an A is very possible

The worst Art History professor at NIU. She is boring, pretentious, and is not effective in making students interested in the material. Avoid her, if possible.
