This man is a gem. It is rare to have a professor in graduate school (for engineering too!) who is able to inspire their students to learn and incite their curiosity and genuine interest in the subject matter. I felt very engaged and cared about them. Don't pass up a chance to have him. Also too ME580 with him.

Has a laid back lecturing style, displays a genuine interest and excitement in the material. Paying attention in lectures will make the tests and HW completely manageable. Using his linear algebratensor approach and writing MATLAB code for it before tests will help a ton. Made mechanics intuitive for me. Heavy on indeterminate cases.

Professor Bay adds so much to this course! He has a very laid-back personality but has the intellect to teach you a ton. I highly recommend this Senior Elective if you're interested in Mechanics. I learned a ton and had a great time.

Take as many classes as you can with Brian Bay. Although lectures weren't exactly interesting you do learn. All the homework, midterms and final exam are done online at home.

Goes to lab and helps. This is amazing to get from a prof at OSU. Class is well organized and taught as a 400 level class. Learned a lot. Would take another class from him again. Only issue is the lab reports and test take about 6 weeks to get graded and back to you. Does not use blackboard at all but has a website. Cannot see grades

I learned a lot from this class and really enjoyed it. Dr. Bay is a great professor and makes the material relevant. I strongly encourage everyone to go to the problem solving sessions. They are immensely helpful even though homework isn't graded.

I absolutely enjoyed this class! Bay is a super nice guy, and really wants to help you learn. He is realistic with you, and doesn't sugarcoat if it appears you are doing poorly. He grades VERY reasonably, but his tests are hard. They do test your knowledge very well, however, which is the whole point. He curves HEAVILY as well. I enjoyed his class!

Good prof, easy to talk to, fun lectures. Get on his good side and talk about cycling. BioE lectures were exhausting because it was all powerpoint. Attend lectures and write notes on side comments and explinations, going off the slides alone will sink you. Beware of tests, they get down to every detail so study hard.

If I had learned Statics the first time around (no thanks to an unnamed teacher), this class might have been easier. Bay is the best engr teacher I've had by far (which isn't that hard). Funny guy, is very smart and will help in any way he can to help you understand. The material in the class sucks, though.

He's a pretty good teacher and has a very good attitude toward teaching. The material isn't exiting but he makes it interesting. His tests are pretty hard to finish on time. Very helpfull in office hours even more helpful if he has coffee

Teaches difficult material, but is more than willing to take the time to help out. Tests harder than they need to be.
