I took this class my first year - the hardest class I had, and he gave me a B-... Maybe I deserved it, though. Reading quizzes that expect you know what every word means? No other class does that!

Comment:

Brian is an eclectic professor and joy to interact with, just come prepared with thoughtful questions and be prepared to defend your opinions. I took his classes a decade or so back long before my graduate and professional careers and have been grateful ever since from the knowledge and confidence he has instilled in me.

Comment:

He has high expectations and expects you to be responsible for your portion of the learning process. He encourages you to ask questions and you will develop critical thinking skills necessary to succeed in graduate schools. His classes were the favorites of the seniors this year and pretty much all of us got into our desired grad/med/vet schools.

He is very very difficult. I learned more in this class than any other class ever taken. if you have any interest in attending graduate school or some higher education, he prepares you excellently. Makes you learn to learn on your own and learn by asking questions in class.

By far one of the toughest professors I have ever had. That said, he is very fair. He expects students to put in the time and effort if they want to do well. I have learned more from him than any other professor. Avoid his classes if you are not willing to put in the work because you will do poorly!

absolutely the worst professor on the planet. He destroys careers. Does not care about your work or his. If he is attracted to you (mainly men) you will do okay. If you have the option, do not be a biology major. In his classes, the only thing you learn is what not to be as a human being. He is absolutely pathetic and a train wreck. Get out now!

He is by far the worst teacher I have ever had in my life! AVOID him like the plague. It's as if he chose the most interesting topic ever in order to lure students into his awkwardly-taught, deathtrap of a class and then destroy them. His quizzes are ridiculous, his papers are excessive, and his lectures are a mockery of modern education.

If you have Ernsting as your FYS professor RUN! drop the class before you spend more time on his lengthy assignments and impossible quizzes given every class. If I had the time, I would drop this class and gldly take it again with another professor. Ernsting is rude, uncaring, and a know it all.

Dr Ernsting is very unprofessional and rude. He does NOT care about the students at all. He is more worried about his personal life then he is about his students. He is not willing to help his students, he just wants to humiliate them for his own personal pleasure.

He is the absolute worst teacher I have ever had. I have never felt so defeated in a class. He doesn't even give his students an opportunity to succeed. When asked for help he usually replies with "I don't have time". He is known for calling papers "trash" and ripping them in half. He makes students feel stupid when asking questions. Horrible.

He is very inconsiderate and highly arrogant. He is only interested in opinions if they are his. He also assigned a tremendous amount of homework and quizzes at the end of every class. Crazy, especially considering this class doesn't even go toward my major. He is not interested in helping his students, but he does have his favorites.

This professor does not take into consideration that students have other classes and assignments but his. He refuses to hear any opinions other than his own, and if you don't understand something he seems to enjoy humiliating you and doesn't help you. This class was more stressful than all my other classes combined.

He would always humiluate you, then once you answered a question he would give you a question in return and say okay, we're moving on now. He was completely arragont and not helpful at all! He acted like a jerk to all students and didn't care about his students...

Worst professor at UE. He has no respect for his students or the campus. Makes you feel stupid in front of many people and takes pride in it. Thinks he is an expert on everything, but he is defintely not. Would rather be in a lab doing research than teaching students in a class that they are paying $3,000 to take! DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!!!!!

He is probably the worst professor I have ever had. If you don't understand something he makes you feel like a complete idiot, he purposely tries to embarass you infront of your classmates, and he has absolutely no consideration for the fact that you are taking other classes. He is completely unreasonable, booo ernsting.

He is unacceptable. His quizzes are unnecessarily difficult and require not just comprehension of the material but essentially memorization of minuscule details. He does not take into account the possibility that his students have any other classes. He assigns too much work in too little time with too much reading in between. He destroys souls.

Avoid at all costs- this is the worst professor I have ever had. If you don't understand the material, too bad...a student in my class asked him a question and he ran and hid behind his desk. This pretty much sums up how helpful he is...I was a straight A student my entire life and got a C- in his class. Worst experience ever.
