Comment:

She's a mix of good and bad. She is caring and willing to help her students, but I think that her teaching approach is meh. She had us read 6 novels throughout the semester and it felt meaningless to do so. Barely read any and got an A. The class often felt super boring since only a select few kids participated. Not the worst, but not the best.

She's a nice lady but also kind of strict. She cares a lot about participation and took points off my grade for "taking a phone call" when I just took my phone with me to the bathroom. She cancels class a lot.

. I read 15 books in one semester for basically nothing, one assignment and my entire sem down the drain. Also buying every book I probably spent around $100 so can't imagine the students who don't have the necessary funds. She will probably just fail you. Spent weeks on an assignment for it to take down my entire semester grades. 5 assignments.

DO not take her. I listened to the good ones and took her class. BIG MISTAKE. I went to every class, participated when no one would, got good grades on the few assignments we had and in ONE essay ONE sentence I forgot to cite my quote. 6 word sentence, instead of talking to me about it she gave me an F on the essay I worked on for 3 weeks.

Great teacher who expects you to do your best. I recommend her if you want someone who knows your name and calls you out in class to keep you focused. She knows her stuff and she truly cares about your learning.

Dr. Verderame takes what she does very serious. She is a very hard grader, and believes no one is a perfect writer. She told us on day one that no one would get higher than an A- in her class. Take advantage of the writing center, and if she gives you the option, let her proofread your paper in class. Be sure to show you are putting in effort.

I really enjoyed this class, but Carla does not give second chances. This class is mostly reading and only a few assignments are graded. So, if you mess up ONE, your grade is low and there is nothing you can do about it.

Despite the fact that you can be a great student all year, Carla will take one mistake and instantly drop your grade significantly. It doesn't matter if you attend EVERY CLASS, actively participate, and hand in every assignment on time. She soley bases your grade off of human mistakes. Gotta love it, right?

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Verderame. She is truly amazing. a wonderful teacher and she loves her students. She always assigns very interesting books for her courses. Most of her Lit classes have a heavy reading load so if that is not for you don't take one of her classes- even though I really do think you will be missing out!

By far the best professor I have ever had! I have taken her for multiple classes and plan on taking a class with her next semester before I graduate. She is very kind, loves her students, clear about her expectations and tries her best to make class enjoyable for everyone. There is a lot of reading involved in her classes and in class discussions.

Dr. Verderame is such a sweet woman. She cares about her students and wants everyone to pass. There is a lot of reading, but not that many assignments. If you come to class, participate, and do the work, you will be fine!

Dr. Verderame is a very good professor and the class is very easy. There are about 18 YA books to read though, so I would recommend getting them from the library. Chances are you will not get to read all of them cover to cover. There is also theory covered in this class, but she makes it really simple for the students. Take her!

Dr. Verderame is the sweetest woman. She cares for her students and only wants them to succeed. She really will try her best to make sure you recieve a B or an A. If I could take her for all my classes I would. She assigns a lot of reading, but other than that you only have like 4 assignments that are so easy! I would highly recommend!

Dr. Verderame is a GEM. She reminds you of a sweet grandmother, honestly. We read definitely over 10 novels throughout the semester, but the tests she gives on the material are all interpretive, so there's really never a right or wrong answer. Show up to class and it's an easy A.

She makes you read so many pointless short stories out of the text book every class. She cancels class often or lets you out early. Tough grader but there are only 3 writing pieces you have to do. Attendance is mandatory. Tough grader but class is fairly easy. She is a sweet lady, I'd take her again.

Verderame is a great professor. As an English major, I learned so much. This course requires a LOT of reading, but her assignments are not hard and they don't take too much time. Verderame is fair in grading, and provides good feedback. This class is discussion based, be ready to talk - she wants to hear your thoughts! Best choice for this course.

She is really nice. She let us out early basically every class. The books are good reads, much better than reading text books. The essays were easy, quizzes were easy, the class presentation was easy too. Notice a theme? EASY class, good books, and a nice professor. Take her/this class.

Dr. Verderame is a great professor. She's very nice and funny. Will let you out of class early sometimes. The class itself is very easy. Just read the chapters and write the 3 papers. Thats literally the whole semester. The papers are only about 3 pages each and easy. There is one group presentation that is easy also. She's very helpful!

I loved Verderame. I thought she was really funny and very reasonable in terms of her expectations for students. She allows you to revise one paper which really helps your grade out and always chooses interesting books to read. I plan on taking her again as soon as I get the chance.

Dr. Verderame is the sweetest lady ever! I loved her Native American Lit. class this semester! She chose interesting books for the semester but they need to be read for class discussion every week! So helpful and listens to everyone's opinions! I would take her again in a heartbeat!
