I almost didn't take her class because of the reviews on here, which would have been a huge mistake because hers is one of my favorite classes I've taken. She is very kind, cares about her students, welcomes disagreement in discussion, and she's very helpful in office hours. She also is open to extensions if you need one. Strongly recommend.

Man! I don't know what the big hullabaloo is about! She's a bit disorganized and boring at times, but she's also enthusiastic about what she does and really does care about her students. Flighty as she may be, she's a joy to have a teacher and I'm so glad I took her class. Just do the work and you'll be fine!

yuck and more yuck. I don't particularly like someone preaching to me their dogma. As for those who love her, perhaps they're just sucking up to a very mediocre teacher

Sounds like some former students don't have a clue what it's like to be an English teacher. Cathy's amazing, teaches useful information, and is well respected in English education. Students that disagree just make themselves look ignorant. Advice to those that didn't appreciate her class: keep your day job b/c you won't get one teaching.

Dr. Fleischer is extremely organized and definitely cares a great deal about her students and her job. She is a wonderful resource. Although she has strong opinions, these opinions are obviously based on years of experience. If you take this class you will learn a lot and have fun. Class goes by quickly and is usually student run.Highly recommended

Be prepared to be told that there is one and only one way to do things. Her class is a 16-week sales seminar for the specific approach she advocates. She also takes great pride in her conviction that she knows far more than you do.

Truly a hidden agenda. While purporting to be open, and trying so hard to be cool, she sticks it to those who don't follow the ideological agenda. How hypocritical to teach with an open pedagogy and preach against the banking concept of education while secretly following it.

Professor Fleischer has a hidden agenda, and favors students who follow her ideology, awarding them higher grades. If you don't you suck up, you're at a distinct disadvantage in her class. An quintessential example of if you can't do -- teach.
