Professor Frierson is a really great history teacher. She is very passionate about Russian history and that enthusiasm is infectious. There's only a few exams a handful of written assignments, but as long as you pay attention in class and know how to write a decent essay, you will be just fine!

Amazing professor. Brilliant, with a lot of personal experience in what she teaches. Wonderful storyteller, who presents history in a narrative fashion, and peppered with personal anecdotes. Light on homework, but what few assignments you'll have will absolutely challenge you. A difficult class, but absolutely rewarding. I valued my time with her.

Professor Frierson really knows her stuff. Her lectures and can be boring, but thats because there is a lot to cover in this class. I recommend taking Russian WWII so you can get in depth with her. You do have to read, (a lot sometimes) and cute reading in the written work. But she gives out the test questions so do the study sheets!

Professor Frierson is one of the kindest professors I've interacted with at UNH. She cares about individual students learning and succeeding as all educators should. She is also extremely knowledgeable and passionate about her field, making class very enjoyable and informative. Be ready to read and learn but also to have fun!

Overall i would say professor Frierson is a good professor. You can tell shes very passionate about the course and especially about Russia and Russian History. Classes are interesting and you learn a lot in the course.

Prof Frierson is an amazing lady! Incredibly intelligent and knowledgable of her subject. You can only miss 3 classes without your grade dropping significantly, but she is understanding. Very available to her students. If you pay attention to the lectures and do the readings you will do great. Definitely recommend this class!

I would nominate this woman for sainthood if I could. She is extremely receptive to her students, and gave us extension after extension on our final papers when she didn't have to. Very good at making lectures interesting, very engaged.

Cathy is a great lady. She cares about her students and is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about her subject area. She assigns a lot of reading, though she is willing to re-work stuff if students are struggling with the workload. She is not the most effective discussion leader.

The work and reading is plentiful, but Frierson is so incredibly helpful. Her passion for the subject imbues every class with joy and excitement (and usually laughter, as well!). An exceptional teacher!

Frierson rules. One of best profs i've had. Not pretentious AT ALL, as opposed to another un-named hist professor i've had. Took class for language gen ed, i'm a biochem major. Did not expect how great class would be. I've never had interest in history before this class. Now I do. A truly superb teacher, recommend this course to anyone. 5/5 stars!

Frierson could quite possibly be the best professor at UNH. She expects thoughtful work from her students, and would never hesitate to help you improve your work. Her passion for Russian and Soviet history is obvious from the first class, I highly recommend her to students of history and other majors.

Professor Frierson is, in my opinion, the coolest prof at UNH, and possibly ever. She is so enthusiastic and passionate about Russia. Before I took her class, I had no interest in Russia whatsoever; now, I'm a Russian history minor! Dr. Frierson is a wonderful, caring, compassionate person. I highly recommend taking any of her classes!
