Comment:
I'm a total beginner with HTML and all that, but he was very understanding and patient. He answered questions clearly and right away. I messed up so much, but he gave partial credit. The actual content wasn't easyclear and it was extremely frustrating (for me anyway!), but HE was kind and clear and that's the only reason I managed to get an A!

May seem like spewing jargon but he makes sense if you listen and have a basic knowledge of information technologies. He's also very reachable, emails within the hour. He was also my faculty advisor, super nice guy, he's the man!

Very fair and knowledgable, may seem like he's spewing jargon but when you really understand the material it makes sense. He's my faculty advisor too and he responds to emails within the hour. He's also a nice guy!

Three hours of my life are completely wasted, and for an introduction class for a master's program, completely unacceptable..goes off on tangents every time he talks. And the powerpoint presentations include copied and uncited articles from wikipedia. How is that okay for a Library Science professor??

He often goes off on tangents while lecturing, often on topics that have no relevance to the class. In other words, he wastes students' time. A lot. The classes he teaches are pointless. You don't get what you pay for.

He's cynical, and I like that. He may me compreshenive to me more than other for some reason. It's probably because of my previous area of study because i always know exactly what he's talking about. sorry dude--below me, you seem to be in the minority, but i certainly don't disagree with what you said. I think you really dont understand him.

Comment:
Assignments in 2600 are very relevant--doing them, I learned lots of things I've used in other classes. You will learn from doing the assignments, but not from anything he says or does during class. Very easy to get full marks on assignments as long as you do them on time. Time management is a joke-he'll say "one more thing" and talk for 30 minutes

Dr. Tomer is a great prof. He was always reachable via e-mail and helpful. He is extremely talented when it comes to technology and libraries. His good sense of humor helps in lectures. He does go off topic but it's interesting. I highly recommend his class on digital libraries. You will work - but you will be rewarded if you do the work.

Dr. Tomer is one of the best professors I have ever had. I don't understand why people are so rude towards him. You just have to have a brain to follow his class and dry wit. And he does all this while managing his family life. One of the all-time greats in his field.

Engaging, entertaining lectures often injected with dry humor, which I found endearing. Useful assignments, interesting readings, loads of additional/recommended resources. Recommend. And to respond to those who commented on his inability to follow his powerpoints, true, but who really cares? He's a great lecturer.

Very thought provoking. So smart he's sometimes hard to follow, but always willing to re-phrase, answer questions, clarify, etc. Syllabus can change along the way - usually to make things easier.

You know what? He is kind of rude and a bad lecturer. I didn't like him at first, but then I met Dr. Cox and Tomer looks like a great professor in comparison. Boring lectures, but he actually gives feedback on assignments which is more than i can say for other professors in this program. So he is ok-ish by comparison.

He's the go to guy for the latest in web 2.0 technology & beyond! And while you may wonder about the looseness of the class at the end you will be amazed at what you have been introduced to and learned.

Had Chris for LIS 2000, 2663, and he was my advisor. He's a nice guy and seems to know quite a bit about his subject area. Classes were pretty awful: boring, unfocused, random. LIS2663 is not useful if you're already pretty good with modern tech.

A complete waste of time and money. At the end of a 2 hour lecture, I still couldn't tell what he was talking about. His Powerpoints were completely ineffective and he never followed them anyway. Never graded a thing and never answered emails... Worst part is that he THINKS he is hysterical.

I found his classes useful in my everyday library work: tagging, blogging, wikis and the whole Library 2.0 applications. He has a delightful sense of humor and does not impose draconian rules for due dates, font sizes and class responses.
