Great professor in my opinion. As long as you take the time to study the materials and ask for help you will pass the class. He gives a few opportunities for extra credit which helped bump my grade. He is very enthusiastic when it comes to teaching geology which makes the class more enjoyable. It's a lecture lab course so keep that in mind.

I wish every professor was as great as Colin. His passion for geology shows in his lectures, which makes for a very comfortable and easy learning environment. Do yourself a favor and take this class!

Ferguson is awesome! You can tell he's really into this subject and he's one of the most intelligent person I have met! His lectures are fun and the tests aren't too bad if you study.

A lot of writing notes done in class like many science classes. But would rather work on study guides than learning new things an hour before the exam. Tests and Exams are harder than the study guide given. Exact questions are not on the exam like he specified they would be.

Colin is a great professor and obviously is very passionate for geology. He has detailed lectures with lots of great notes. Class is pretty test/quiz focused. As long as you attend lectures and study class should be easy.

Can't say enough good about this teacher. Tests are all short answer q's, but if you study it really isn't that bad! His lectures are so interesting and he's just the coolest guy. Labs are fun and easy. LOVE this class. Take it.

He is super passionate and knowledgeable about environmental issues. If you have any interest in environmental science, then definitely take Ferguson. He loves to lecture and requires lots of notes. Most days lectures are very entertaining and clear. Would take again any day.

Absolutely amazing teacher. I have an awful time with science based classes, but he really makes things interesting and hands on. When taking notes, write down everything he writes on the board and you are set. He practically sets you up for success with study guides for all tests and exams!

Mr. Ferguson is the best! Very organized and delivers information in an understandable and entertaining way. He chooses to write on the chalk board rather than deliver death by powerpoint. His lectures are super informative and he integrates current world issues into his curriculum. 3 words to describe him: intelligent, passionate and charismatic.

Has this voice that pulls you into listening to lectures and an easy going guy. Show up to class and take all notes he puts on the board and study them when quizzes and midterm comes along and you will pass. Willing to help students when they ask and wants you to understand.

He made geology interesting for me, while I found the class hard, I enjoyed it. It is a class you will spend considerably more time preparing for, but if you do the reviews , go to every class, take notes because it will be on tests and quizzes, and study often, you will pass.

Ferguson is great. He loves the subject matter, and makes class interesting. Expect some work to be done to earn your grade. Book is a must, and don't skip, it'll only hurt you. Otherwise he is there for you and is dedicated to your education. 10/10 would recommend.

AMAZING teacher! I was dreading this class, but Ferguson is REALLY into it, which made it fun. I liked Ferguson the first day of class, which should be saying enough. I love how he lets you get involved in the lecture. It was just a bit difficult memorizing the names of all these different rocks and features. I'd take the class again, just for fun

Comment:

Professor Ferguson is by far the best, most passionate teacher. Workload is pretty intense but doable, and the class was super fun and interesting. Don't expect an easy grade though, you definitely have to "earn" it. I would take another class from him any time.

Colin Ferguson is the man. It's because of his enthusiasm in his field of expertise that drew me to his teaching style. It's inspiring to see a teacher so passionate! A definite must if your trying to fill your science/lab GE units.

Great teacher! Takes notes! Everything you need to know, every answer to every test will be put on the board. Will give practice test to study, perhaps a 150 questions, learn them and you’ll get an A. very important to be in class taking notes. Great attitude, relates to class.
