he really cares, and he knows his stuff. In a lecture of about 50 kids, he responded to each students essay with a page of support about the writing and about the actual content of the paper. He goes off on tangents which bugged some people, but i really enjoyed.

A very knowledgeable teacher that likes to discuss topics with his students. I enjoyed his stories and you will really learn new things. Grades are determined by 3 papers, a final, and attendance. Has a lenient late policy and class should be easy to pass as long as you actually do the work.

One of my favorite professors at UMB. If you're attending college because you want to learn new perspectives and engage in debate, he's a great professor; his classes are almost always focused on encouraging debate and student participation. If you're here to get a degree, there are easier professors you can waste your time with.

Most of the information that you need comes from lectures rather than the textbook, but if you haven't read you might not do well. He isn't an exceptionally hard grader, but you need to put effort into the course and he can tell if you're trying to coast by.

Prof. Hunt is the best professor I have had at UMB. A self declared Marxist, he is not a solider for the cause. Unlike many leftist professors, he is open to any and all view points.Really a true academic. I would recommend David to anyone who wants to learn history from several different perspectives and grow as a student.

His class can be boring if you don't participate, because he is rarely if ever engaged with the material, if the students are apathetic. So if you want to do well in his class you have to earn his respect by developing a viewpoint and fearlessly arguing it in class. If you just sit there and expect to be given an A for obedience you will fail.

David Hunt smart but he is a boring teacher. He doesn't speak clearly or enthusiastic and is increadibly hard to follow. He needs to adjust to the modern world and use more visuals and excitment in the material. All he does is lecture but has no excitment in his voice. He should be an author not a tacher beacuse he can't connect with the class.

Professor Hunt is a great guy, easy to like and very well versed in Vietnamese history and general politics and sociology. Reading-heavy class, and participation in discussions is important. If you like to talk too much, choose your comments carefully, as he does not abide discussion hijackers. He'll tell you to "settle down," which I LOVED.

David is a great teacher. Thoroughly informed and clearly dedicated to Vietnamese studies. This was the most thought-provoking class I've ever been a part of, and so long as you're willing to engage the curriculum and make earnest attempts to learn, you'll do well. Don't take the class if you're going to sit there silently; participation will help.

I was pleased whenI took this class that it wasn't about the more popular figures of revolutionary history (thank god no che). I find that he really likes papers that you display both sides of an argument. The best grades I got were in papers that I simply put "Some argue this, but if you look at x,y,z." He wants to see you wrestle w/ your thinking

You're not going to learn about "heroic" revolutionary figures in this class. Hunt's focus is largely on popular movements, on peasants, workers, etc. (i.e., what revolutions are actually made of). He's a tough grader on papers, but you'll do alright in general if you read. A history from below guy in the tradition of G. Lefebvre, etc.

He knows a lot about this subject and LOVES to have some debate in class. He has a sense of humor but you'll catch it more if you pay attention. He likes to hear everyones voice in class and also enjoys talking to you about class one on one. Helpful, enjoyable and knowledgeable. Lots of reading though.

The class isn't isn't that interesting or that fun, but David is very passionate about the Vietnam war. He heavily relies on the books (5 in all), but the exams are pretty easy. In the exams, you choose one of two statements and write a short essay arguing or agreeing with the statement. As long as you use a lot of quotes, he's an easy grader.

Great teacher, prior comments that emphasize his "unclarity" are only a result of uncreativity. He does not answer questions directly because there is not only one simple answer to every problem which is unfortunate for lazy students who want answers spoon-fed to them and do not want to think on their own. Great Teacher, innovative and refreshing.

David is a very nice guy, helpful and understanding. Revolutionaries is an intense class, but I was engaged (probably because I was trying to understand!!) He does go on random tangents at times, but I don't mind it. He seems to give the same grade on all papers regardless, but I got a B, so I won't complain :) Take him if you want a challenge!!

This was the best class of my semester. It was difficult, but for once a professor made me think. I don't think he accomplishes his goal of making us better writers (at least not to a large degree) because the class doesn't focus that much on writing, but the history part is a great education and he is a very good professor
