TAKE DEB IF YOU CAN!! Best professor ever. She is so sweet and her class is not that difficult. The only thing that makes the class hard is the actual material. All the quizzes are open note and so is the final. She works with you and really wants you succeed. (Also, I didn't use my textbook really at all. Look for a free PDF if you can!)

Comment:

I cannot say enough good things. Lectures are interesting and make so much sense. Willing to help students and super caring. Grade based on weekly quizzes and 4 test. Go to class and study and the tests are easy, but skip and don't study: not going to end well. I wish Deb taught every class. TAKE HER CLASS. I PROMISE YOU WILL LOVE HER!!!!

Comment:

Such a sweet person and professor! All classes are lectures. Weekly online quizzes, I think they help. Tests are difficult. Gives suggested homework that isn't required. I recommend reading the book and taking notes.

She is such a sweet person and made biology so easy to understand. She goes through them at such a good pace and gives time for people to write. Her office hours help a lot if you are confused about anything. Definitely take her as a professor!

Comment:

The most caring human ever! She will kick your butt but in the most caring way possible. I had a C during midterms and I wanted to drop, but she told me I shouldn't. She's super motivating and is really helpful in and outside of class. 3 tests that are 50%, 1 final that's 20% and a quiz each week (one dropped) that are 30% of your overall grade.

Go to class, or don't, I'm pretty sure I googled half of the stuff and used crash course and SI to make up for all the times I skipped and still managed a B+, she's such a sweet person and overall a pretty good teacher. She's known as the "good one" in regards to biology professors.

Really accessible out of class and truly genuine with her students. The tests have a LOT of information on them so be prepared to know your stuff and study. Also go to class and take notes.

She is one of the sweetest people you will ever meet. Very passionate about the topic and her joy is contagious. Tests are kind of hard, but going to her office hours helps a lot. If you don't understand something she will take the time to help you in her office and genuinely cares about her students. She's a joy to have as a professor.

I took Deb for BIO111 and specifically chose her for 112. The content can be difficult, but with studying you can master it before a test. She is very friendly and explains things very well. Weekly online quizzes and an exam every few weeks is pretty much all that is graded. I literally love her.

Comment:

Very nice and sweet lady, but her tests are super hard. In order to make a B on a test, you HAVE to study for an entire week, at least 4 hours a day. You need to know the material like the back of your hand because of how precise she words the tests. She hardly ever responds to emails. You can get by without using the text book.

Dr Bidwell is really passionate about biology. She wants all her students to do well in not just her class, but others. She has flexible office hours. She willing to help you on anything you have questions on. She is really caring. All her power points are on line, but you need to be class to get notes. You need to read the textbook.

Awesome professor! She cares a lot about her students, and is willing to help you succeed. Her tests make you think, but they are not too bad if you study. What she teaches in lecture is on the tests; you dont have to read the textbook too much.

Deb is such a nice, caring lady! Her lectures are easy to follow and she does well on elaborating on them. Her tests are pretty hard, but if you study you'll be fine. I would definitely take her again for bio 112 but her class filled up :(

Professor Bidwell is awesome and always excited about biology. She uses real life examples in nearly every lecture and cares for her students. The material is hard but if you study the concepts outside of class you'll pass. Best professor I've had in college so far!

Wonderful professor and truly cares for each student. She makes sure you understand the material in class and wants you to succeed in her class. It is a lot of material that is difficult, but she explains it perfectly.

Comment:

Three exams, two papers, a quiz every Sunday (lowest one drops), & final. Deb is a fair grader & her lectures are very informative. You do need to study the book outside of class and outline the chapters for a deeper grasp of the material, but her lectures are very thorough. If you can take her for 112 - do it! You can get an A if you put in work!

Deb is an amazing woman. Her passion for the subject makes class so interesting. You can really tell how much she loves biology. She is very caring and one of the nicest professors I've had. However, her notes are very scattered. I learned most from reading the textbook, because her lectures are very unorganized and out of order.

Comment:

Bidwell is an amazing professor! She really loves the subject and wants you to do well. Her tests can be very intense but she gives you the materials you need to succeed as long as you apply yourself. I definitely wouldn't skip class, she puts very few of her notes on the powerpoints.

Why does she not have a perfect 5.0 rating? Seriously? She deserves a 5.0, she is probably the best professor I have ever taken. Deb forever.
