Tough class; excellent teacher. There is a lot of work,but Ms. Dowling prepares you well. Make the effort,and you will do well. Super helpful and caring. Strict about no late work though.

A good teacher. You will have to just do all her assignments and ask her to read your papers. If you ask her what is wrong, she will tell you what you need to do. If you just follow her advice, she'll give you an A almost every time on the essays. She has nice friendly, personality and makes the meetings go by without feeling like it drags on

Makes expectations completely clear. Almost always available for extra help or questions after class. If you have trouble with grammar and/or puctuation, she explains it in ways that students can understand and make sense of. Medium hard grader-- but harder on second drafts. If you struggle with writer's block she's great with ideas.Humorous.

Best teacher I've ever had. She may not be exciting or energetic, even seems dull @ 1st but she is extremely nice, and has very funny dry humor. I really enjoyed her class and have learned more than I have anywhere else. Pay attention and do all the work; you'll get a good grade. I wish all of my teachers were like her. She is not annoying at all!!

The time goes quite quickly in this class so you're not left watching the clock. Uses lots of real life examples and walks around checking everyone understands whatever we are working on. There is a good amount of homework-- which relate to the readings and upcoming essays. She's rather picky about format. Pretty good sense of humor.

I recommend this instructor if you want your work actually read. She grades fairly but won't take any late work. I know from a couple of classmates that she checks carefully for plagiarism which means a big zero. Being absent means loosing quite a few points-- same goes for lack of participation.

if you can write, you'll get an A. three very easy essays, with lots of time to work thru them. am recommending to take the 4 hour block class because you'll get a whole week to do hw, and certain days, you'll get out two hours early, plus if there's a holiday on that day, it's a free day and you dont have to go for another week. once i had 4 weeks

Prof. Dowling is a great teacher. First impressions are not that great, but she is very clear and thorough with instructions and it is easy to get an A as long as you follow them. If you need help, she is always happy to help and makes assignments really easy.
