Writes a bunch of gibberish proofs on a paper and calls it a done lecture after an hour and 20 minutes of absolute garbage. His Zooms last time had 2 other people joining out of 100+ students. He's easy but you don't learn anything. He should lose his job. All he does is stroke his ego about how he worked for NASA. Big deal!

The book isn't required, you'll want it if you want any hope of understanding. The labs are taken from another professor which help guide you through the coding, he adds an extra problem at the end and gives no guidance. Worst teacher I have EVER had, no one knows what is going on. Just does proofs all lecture and expects you to remember them all

I would say that this professor was fine for me. If you want to understand how optimization algorithms work then you should except that this will require you to understand some unpleasant math. He has 1 midterm and a final project which are okay and 4-5 homeworks which requires a lot of time to solve. Hard class, but definitely passable.

This guy's lectures consist of just VERY unclear proofs of methods of optimizations; methods that we need to code ourselves for HW. The 1st half was the hardest class I've experienced at UCI. 2nd half was SO chill. Class was half undergrad students, and half grads. HARD midterm (compute proofs), then the rest of the quarter was a final project.

He uses an assemblage of slides taken from other professors and doesn't post them online. Very poor speaker and isn't prepared to lecture (decides during class which slides and bullet points he wants to read; takes him a few moments to understand the info on slides). Worst Prof I've ever had. Do yourself a favor and take this with someone else.

Honestly, the most stressful part about this class is going to lecture and watching him write calculus proofs all day. But other than that, the course is not too bad; the subject matter is interesting, homework assignments are fun (with lots of EC)... and no final exam! Beware of the midterm however; it's all proofs, though grading seems lenient.

He doesn't make eye contact with students, which is really important while teaching. He doesn't teach in a clear way. The assignments are good though.

He doesn't use a clear lecture method for project classes and tends to play it by ear. On the other hand, he doesn't require you to learn anything specific, won't "test" you, and will be happy as long as you demonstrate that you learned SOMETHING in the subject during your time with him. Great to take for project classes; not so great for math.

This was supposed to be an intro class but it did not seem like it at all. He made it the hardest subject I have ever come across. Completely incomprehensible lecturer. You're on your own with the book. Lots of homework and irrelevant quizzes. Be warned, your GPA will suffer.

Pretty confusing to listen to. Also not an exciting class. Expect to go to office hours a lot to ask questions. However there was a somewhat generous curve at the end. My raw score was a B-, but I ended up with an A-.

Well the other ratings pretty much sum it all up. This prof was the absolute worst. He made a seemingly decent class incredibly difficult with lots of homework and irrelevant quizzes. His office hours and review session were not helpful. It's almost as if students were stranded and had to teach themselves. But he's a nice guy and lenient grader.

For what was supposed to be somewhat of an intro class to discrete math, he sure made it seem like a lot more than that. Coming from a math major, he made this class much harder than it needed to be. Very difficult to understand his lecture. Each lecture is basically him doing complicated problems and trying to explain them to us as if we already k

You have to study from book! And you have to study before lecture. His lectures are very confusing if you don't know what's going on. Overall he's a good person and a forgiving grader; he just can't teach.

If you can help it, AVOID this professor at all costs. His lectures are absolutely useless (because he can't teach), and he assigns a ridiculous amount of homework. His lectures are extremely disorganized, and it doesn't help that his handwriting is awful. Hands down, he is THE worst teacher/educator/professor I have ever had in my entire life.

Worst teacher I've had so far. He can't do 5-second problem without doing a 10-minute proof which confuses everyone to the point where nothing is learned from him. Expect many late nights, as the weekly homework is extremely long and hard to teach to yourself.

Absolutely horrible in every sense of the word. Cannot teach. The class isn't hard because of the material, it's hard because the professor can't teach whatsoever. Oh yeah, and the TAs kept cancelling discussion. Have fun.
