Professor Marksbury is very old school so get ready to read and take a quiz every week. He makes a lot of dad jokes throughout the class, if you like history his class will be super easy. Tests and quizzes were multiple choice( test50quest quiz10quest) studied really hard and always got a B, even the A students had trouble getting a better grade.

He's a really nice professor and knows alot about history. His class is just hard because it's very test/quiz heavy. You take about 15 (10 question) quizzes, he drops 2 at the end. There are also 3 tests that are 50 questions and an essay with every test. Only 15 points of extra credit are available.

Hes a very animated character. Hes a lot of fun to pay attention to in class, but that whole class consisted of nothing but quizzes and tests. And, the worst thing was, I was supposed to have another professor but the professors were switched last second...

I am really glad I chose to take this course with Mr. Marksbury. He was amazing, super funny, & very engaging! I loved his story times. You are guaranteed to learn something new every class. His class is very challenging and you must put in work to see the grade you want. 10 question quizzes every Tuesday's & 3 exams worth 100 pts. Gives extra cred

Prof Marksbury is a great teacher. He is older, so learning about history from someone that lived through it was interesting. I was one of his favorites, but didn't even get an A. Essay on every test (not too hard, you get prompt ahead of time), and test has thorough study guide. Quizzes were what got me a B, only 10 questions and no study guide.

Very kind man and an interesting class. Took Gary for winter session, but did not pass. He does try and help you pass with extra credit assignments and other simple extra points on tests. History is not my strong point, but professor Marksbury made this class tolerable.

Very nice man. Tells lots of interesting stories about his past that are relevant to what is being discussed. Gives out quizzes every so often, but are useful for tests. Also has online study guides and links to articles that really help when it comes to writing your essays. Textbook for this class will definitely help at achieving a good grade.

This guy is a great teacher, very funny, and tells a lot of stories during his lectures. You take a quiz after each chapter, but if you wrote down notes from the lectures and paid attention you should be good. You take 3 exams during the semester, but they are also accompanied by an essay portion.

Very nice man. Long lectures. The tests are tough because there is an essay portion and he expects details, you cant BS the essay. Lots of quizzes that are also not easy. No homework. I never read the book, but prepared for the in class essays through his lecture notes. If you pay attention to lecture, reading is not necessary. Many ppl had trouble

The nicest man you'll ever meet but his class is challenging. If you want to thoroughly learn about American History, laugh in class and bust your a%$ studying on the origins of this country then this class is for U. Three test which include essay. If you study right and are not lazy then you'll get an A or B, also depends on class participation.

Gary Marksbury was a decent teacher. He was a very nice guy, that's for sure, but his class and teaching methods just were not for me. We got lectures every class and three tests with an in class essay. And the tests were pretty tricky and required a ton of studying. Your grade pretty much relied on three difficult tests. Good person, but not easy.

There's a 10 point quiz every week covering a WHOLE CHAPTER. good grade requires studying all the terms on study guide and reading the chapter. The tests are combonation of a few chapters. Have to study to get good grade. Be sure to write down his lecture slides. I was 1 of 3 people to get an A in class. Quiz= 2 hrs of study, Test= atleast 5 hrs

This professor donated $1,000 to Yes on 8...it really shows in his teaching. His conservative views are annoying and distracting to the work at hand.

This teacher is way too hard, there are quizes 2 times a week and a test every 3-4 chapters. Not only that but he uses trick questions on the test which make it imposible to get an A...Also you have to write a 2-3page paper during the test and trust me you wont get higher than a C on the essay part. He thinks he is a English Teacher but he's not.
