The thing I would say about this class is that, his papers might just be the hardest thing in his class. He wants his papers written in a certain way; this is not explicitly stated by him but his grading shows this. His class lectures aren't bad, open book tests so nothing too hard just take notes during class. Writing assignments are the hardest.

One of the best professors that I've had at St. John's. Yeah, you read a lot ( but they are so interesting that it's no big deal; plus, it's LOTR and HP. His lectures are so inspirational and engaging. He's a harsh grader with the three papers, but it helps you grow as a writer. A midterm and final are eh as long as you read and take notes.

This class was fair, there was not a textbook assigned just about eight short Shakespeare plays to read and write one page responses on them. Three essays that are between 4-7 pages, minimum length gets longer each time. Along with reading responses. A lot of work with assignments but managable.

This class is a LOT of work so if you're lazy and want an easy A, do not take this class. BUT! Wilson is one of the best professors at St. John's. MY reading and writing skills have improved because of him and the load work. Class lectures are heavy but it's usually never boring, he cares about your opinion. Easily accessible when you need him too.

Amazing. You read about 8 books for the semester with 3 papers. The papers get longer each time, but he gives you time and plenty of information on them so nothing is confusing. You have to work for your grades and he gives an extra credit essay option if you don't like the grade you received. Midterm and Final are open note, please take him!

His class can be easy as long as you have the books. He's not a bad guy. Getting anything higher than a B+ in that class is tough. You could write a paper & get all good remarks & still get a B. Don't take it personal. His papers also increase in size each time. Tests are easy as long as you took notes/read the stories. Theyre open notes/books.

Loves fantasy novels. Mid-term and Final were both tough. Final did not include anything that he told us to review.

This was the second time I took him (for Harry Potter and LOTR) He is honestly one of my favorite people. Take him if you can! Also just a FYI he has a band called "The Road" (Their on Spotify) and he's the lead singer and plays the trumpet. So if thats no reason enough he also has a youtube channel and had a panel at Comic Con. He's a Cool Dude.

Really hard person to deal with. Way too many books to read and papers to do which are long. Didn't care for his teaching methods as he seems to believe his class is the only one students have.

One of the best Professors as St Johns. He makes me want to change to a Lit. major. Tests are hard you get a paper for every book you read (about 6 books) two major papers and 2 tests. He is a tough grader so take notes in class. But it is the most interesting class I've taken. Not an easy A but the perfect class for anyone who like to read!

One of the best professor's at St. John's. Gives 2 tests, 3 papers and weekly 1-2 page responses. Class is not easy tough grader but lets you rewrite one, as long as you pay attention and participate you should do fine. Makes class interesting and fun. Take him if you need an english.

I took him for fantasy in fiction. Coming from a mediocre high school this class was quite difficult. He made us read about 9-10 books the whole semester. The biggest deal breaker for me is I asked him for help and I told him that I need some advice on how I can improve and he SHUNNED ME. HE DID NOT HELP HE SAID THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO! It's true

He is an amazing professor. Very passionate about his work. Everyone in SJU should take at least one of his courses. You will learn a lot! It's not an easy A. He will really push you to do better. We had 3 papers and 2 exams which were short answer and essays. It's a lot of writing so pace yourself. I got a B but I'm still glad I took this class.

Wonderful professor! I loved his class because he actually kept it interesting (i participated a lot and liked being part of the discussions) The problem is he gives out a LOT of work and his grading is fair and hard. So many hours dedicated to this class because of weekly responses and essays. He's a great professor but gives out a LOTTT of work

Honestly i took him for night class and it was the worst night class i have ever took. Great proffesor but wow does he give tons of reading and papers to do. basically read a sci fiction novel once a week and write a one page or two report and 3 papers 15 pages spilt into the 3 papers. I work full time and go to school full time. Way too much work.

He is absolutely crazy about the subject that he teaches, which is very refreshing. Write 3 papers and get to revise 1 of the first 2. Midterm and final are INSANE, but if your prepared you can pull out a B. He talks with you instead of talking at you, and its nice to have a professor that cares about your opinion. Not easy but worth the work!
