Comment:
This class is not an easy A at all. Your grade is determined by 3 multiple choice exams & one paper. The exams are pretty tricky bc she puts random stuff that isn't on her study guide. The paper was graded pretty harshly but if you do well it'll bring your grade up considerably since its 40%. Overall do NOT recommend. Lectures are extremely boring.

I took Film80A with her in the fall for my IM GE and it was a breeze. She screened movies on Monday and analyzed them on Wednesday, and the class before every test, she went over all of the items on the test. Low and behold, after spending about an hour going over those items, I got over a 90% on every exam. Very easy GE, 10/10 would recommend.

I'm not sure if it's the TA that actually grade but grading was tough on pretty easy material which was annoying. Films are fun, but she tends to throw in more things on the test that aren't on the study guide so its like she's asking for you to mess up and not get an A.

Monday are usually the screening days where you'll just watch films, and Wednesday is where Irene will discuss each film and analyze them. Often time, she just reads off her Prezi slides (which can be found online). The class wasn't informational IMO, its just analyzing film (w regards to the most minor details).

Irene is an amazing professor! I've had the gift of taking two of her classes so far and I hope to take more. She loves what she teaches and is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to documentaryexperimental cinema. Also, the fact that she is super hot doesn't hurt, haha.

She's super passionate about the subject and pretty funny during lectures. The tests are really easy & based on readings and film screenings. Irene always told us exactly what was going to be on the exams (none of them, including the "final" took more than 20 minutes to finish). Overall a great class and an amazing professor.

I came into this class far from a film major, just to try it, and left wanting to declare. The assignments were fun, and I found them to be pretty easy, time consuming, but easily graded in the end. The lectures were interesting, and I still apply what I learned to my everyday life. Heads up - all the assignments are photo/writing based. Take it.

Irene was fantastic. I attended every lecture because they were all super interesting. She really put a new spin on production technique, and made me view the visual world in a whole different light. The assignments were fun, though graded hard, and the final project is making your own little movie! It is a great class, I highly recommend it.

So Irene at first put me off as a littly artsy fartsy, but she explains everything clearly and ultimately helps students understand that why and the how of cinema in a way that is accessible and encouraging to our own endeavors. Also did not put up with BS, which is an issue with some college sutdents.

Irene is "cool." Her class is entertaining and informative, but she hired terrible TA's. If you get Luke, drop the class ASAP. He's the worst TA in history. Irene is amazing though and makes up for the horrid weekly sections.

She is very knowledgable and geniunely loves what she teaches. Don't take this class and expect an easy grade. The lectures are boring as are some of the films but she is overall a good, knowledgable teacher. She is a stickler if you don't come to class all the time.

UPSIDE: prepared, organized, and concise. She doesn't meander off-topic and her lectures fit clearly into an overall structure. DOWNSIDE: acts culturally superior, can be rude/condescening
