Name for me a fruit that is the color red. Okay, an apple. Wrong, the answer is tomato. This is the way he teaches the class. He'll propose a question to the class that has multiple possible answers. Whoever tries to answer, before they can even finish their sentence, he'll tell them they're wrong and give his personal opinion. Good luck.

DISCLAIMER: Take this feedback with the pinch of salt, as I haven't gotten to the end of this semester yet. So far he's pretty good, you can tell he knows a lot. Lectures CAN be a little bit heavy (sometimes he rambles). If I went back in time I would pick him again. Does not give review material for quizzes though.

I was SO excited for this class as a MB Major and he made me hate it so much I changed my major. There are 2 T/F quizzes the whole semester. The final is essay questions. He doesn't give review or go over a list of terms, he's very unclear and disorganized. He just talks at u during class. I see how some might like, him but you've been warned...

International students should definetily avoid his classes. Hard to understand and hard to catch ideas since he always speak very fast and does not have notes during classes. However, he does not take attendents at all.

The key to doing well in this class is to tell Jay what you think. As a lawyer, he always wants to hear what potential music businessmen think and his feedback is great (sarcastic at times but so funny). Keep up with music in the news and you'll be on top of impromptu discussions. Jay gave MANY readings, so don't let the class materials pile up.

Jay is a great teacher. There's not much more to say other than he holds SO much knowledge and has a way of conveying that to the class so well. I have learned more in the short time I have been in his class than I ever could have imagined. Not only is his way of teaching great, he is one of the most passionate teachers I have ever encountered.

Great teacher....I have learnt so much about what goes on in the real world coz he is very experianced. Plus he is not one of those bullsh*t teachers who says money is not important. In music school, you will find a lot of thse mororns but he says he would teach us how to be greedy. Great guy.

SUCH a good class. If you're a music business major, do not leave Berklee without taking Contract Negotiation with him. Or at least Legal Aspects. I learned more in this class than I did in all my other classes this semester combined.

This should be a required class for every student at Berklee. Mr. Fialkov could not be clearer about what he expects of students. He has lots of great stories about his real-world experiences in entertainment law and he is always willing to help out with any specific questions students have. Looking forward to his advanced class next semester!

I suggest this legal aspects to everyone - materials apply to almost all musicians / but you must 'think' more when it comes to exams. I loved his method of teaching - almost like an open discussion forum. He has a tendency to speak too fast, so ask him to slow down if it happens.

Jay is the MAN! Profs like Jay help you forget the pseudo-academic bulls#$t you so often encounter at Berklee long enough to give you some much needed reassurance and encouragement. Imagine Ray Romano teaching a class on the music industry. He intelligently engages a class unlike any other professor at Berklee. Don't hesitate to take his classes.
