Mostly just lecture. He over explains quiet a bit and doesn't let you figure it out on your own. Sometimes talked down to people for not taking notes or getting something wrong

Comment:

John kept the class up beat and well prepared students for exams. We had a review class the day before every exam. He liked to add humor. He seemed irritated if participation was low that day. Gives you an opportunity to get extra credit often. I never used my text book but the online access is required for homework. He was super straight forward.

Comment:

He's a great teacher. He's very funny and is gives great examples when teaching. In class he goes over many different examples and scenarios for math problems that you could potentially see on the test. Homework and quizzes are all done online through My Math Lab. I really enjoyed his class and felt like I learned a lot.

He's a good teacher in person, however there is a lot of homework involved like each section can range from 16 to 54 questions and take a chunk of time. And it's all required to be done. His tests are tough, either Im not familiar with it from the HW or the lack of online notes. If you like to rely on books and do a lot of homework this is for you.

Mr. Cally was a great teacher, he helped me out when I couldn't attend class much from a family matter. Everything assignment wise is online and its all got one due date, whether you took the online class or not. If you ask questions and listen he tends to be more lenient with you

Is a very good teacher. He is very funny and makes math kind of interesting. All of his homework and quizzes are online, even if your taking a lecture class. So be prepared to spend at least and hour on every section assignment. Tests are in class and he does help you very much. You do have to work hard in this class. But you learn a lot!

If you take John Cally for Math 121, be prepared to do A LOT of online homework. If you don't have a lot of free time to study and get the assignments done, don't take this class. He is a decent teacher, and will answer all your questions clearly but sometimes he skips over explaining steps during his lecture which makes asking questions mandatory.

I took this class on a Saturday morning from 9-1, which on my part was a very stupid decision. Math is one of my favorite subjects and I received a 1.5. This class its self is not difficult, and could easily be 4.0 as long as you attend class, take notes, study a little and do your online homework. Cally is pretty good at deciphering the text book

He is an ok teacher. I'm not taking this class as a hybrid, but the way his class is set up it is as though I'm going to class and taking it online b/c there is so much online homework that sometimes have ridiculously long or hard problems that aren't on tests and there are also long online quizzes. His 3rd test is the hardest w/the most problems.

Comment:

Math for Business was not very difficult. Took the class online, and Mr. Cally kept in touch with the class through emails. Course is worthwhile. Very good math core. Be sure to study the formulas, practice quizes online.

Took his online class. There were problems on three of the tests which were not on any of the homework, practice tests or quizzes. On one test, the problem didn't make sense at all. On another, I found the type of problem online and it was never covered in class. DO NOT take his class online unless you already know the math.

Took this class online, dual enrolling from an hour away. His syllabus had dates from 2005, he didn't send test info out until a few days before the test- basically he was awful about letting you know deadlines. When I started taking notes straight out of the book I did well on the tests but what he provided was useless. Doesn't check email. Boo.

Honestly I think that his online Precalc 1 is completely ridiculous. I'm a 4.0 student and I found that his coursework didn't prepare you for his exams at all. I'm preparing for the final right now and am getting severely frustrated. This is not a class to take online. In person he might be a great teacher but online I feel that he just doesnt care

I took his online class and it is currently HORRIBLE. he may be a fine teacher in person, but online he's unorganized and I feel like he's setting us up for disaster with his exams. Half of the problems I've never seen. I'm a good student who's always up on homework with a almost 100% in it, exams are just terrible.

He is helpful, however gets irritated with people in the class who don't pay attention. He does little quizzes randomly to make sure people attend class regularly. He explains things pretty clearly and it's not too much homework.
