Dr. Jackson is interesting, to say the least. He will butter you up for the first exam or two, then when the third exam comes around, you're left in the dust. Get ready to teach yourself most of the material in this class. Get a study group. Get SI tutoring. DO NOT TAKE RECITATION. He's an alright guy, but not a good teacher.

Overall Dr. Jackson is a great teacher for Organic Chem 1. The class itself requires a lot of outside studying but he is always available to help students. There is no homework but he drops the lowest of the 3 exams you take. His tests followed his practice exams and as long as you put the time into the class you will do just fine.

Lectures are wild. However, if you go to Jackson's lectures and SI, listen to Norris's lectures online, and do the practice quizzes and exams, you should have no problem getting an easy A. Unfortunately, as I took 22 credits of math and science, I couldn't devote that kind of time but still found it an easy A.

Dr. Jackson is much better at teaching OChem 2 than OChem 1, but the material is much harder. The exams are incredibly hard but we had a nice curve at the end.

Dr. Jackson knows the material, but he is terrible at organization. He emails out all his notes, but I never knew where we were in a chapter until we started a new one. It's a chem class, so it's obviously going to challenge you. Practice tests were way easier than the real things. Final is so hard, so make sure to do good on the first ones!

Jackson was funny and I am thankful I got to have him for OCHEM 2. Take this class with him! His accompanying 3720R was very very helpful when taking class. First test was easy. Second was the hardest. Final was brutal... but he is a very fair grader and has the class curved, which helps a lot.

Dr. J is awesome. Took Dr. Norris for ochem 1 and ended up dropping, retook with dr. J and got an A. He's fun and makes the subject a lot easier to understand. If you study the exams from previous years thoroughly and know how to do all those problems you should get a guaranteed A.

Dr. Jackson is a very nice person but really did not contribute any new knowledge in organic chemistry that we already didn't know. I would not suggest taking this course if you're looking to learn something. He's very disorganized too.

first two tests were easy. till the third one that he decided to make impossible and put stuff that was not covered at all on it. the reason? somebody got a 100 on the second test. he didnt want that to happen again.

Overall he's a good professor and a great guy. The subject is just hard for everyone and really hard for some people (me). Don't bother doing textbook problems, they didn't help me. Focusing entirely on the old tests and handouts (including Norris stuff) is the most important thing you can do. Write down the mechanism notes from class!

He is a really great guy, but a VERY picky grader, at least for ochem2 he is. He could be more clear when teaching, but it's a pretty difficult subject and he manages to make it entertaining. I love him, just not the grades he gives me. lol

Doc J kicks ass! Truly passionate about the subject matter which is personified by his lecture. Willing to spend extra time explaining. Tests are easy, just study the old tests!! Curve is a bit too generous. Learned a lot in a short amount of time. oh and by the way, A touch of gray kinda suits him any way! Thanks Doc J!!!!

Wow, either he hates me, or he's changed from the previous posting. He's gotten really hard on his exam. I don't recommend taking him. I heard Dr. Norris is harder, but at least you learn something. With Jackson, you leave more confused than when you first come into it. Hated the class. Plus, what's up with having it at 7pm????

Dr. Jackson has the ability to teach organic chemistry to the average student. He is always willing to help students with the material both in and out of office hours. I recommend him as a professor.
