Midterms were fair and honestly quite easy if you went to class and did the weekly readings. Majority of my peers who find him to be a tough marker is not based off of his teaching, however it is based on their pre determined mindset that the class was bird course. Grades were distributed and well thought out before given. very good prof!!

I had Finn for CS100 and I failed so I hated him but I had him again for CS351 and he is probably one of the best profs I've ever had. He is so passionate about the material that you become invested in his lectures and the course overall. If you do the readings and actively listen in class, his quizzes and assignments won't be too challenging

Professor Finn was an okay prof... He taught a tough course as it covers a lot and is vague but I found it hard to pay attention in his lectures. This may also have been because he did not use a microphone and it was very hard to hear him. His slides were made up of a lot of examples that weren't tested. Midterm avg. 44% as it was out of 20 marks.

Awesome prof! At first I hated him because I thought he was just a jerk, but if you speak with him about your papers ahead of time then you realize that he just likes to challenge his students and he's actually extremely helpful. He has high expectations, but the class is well structured and the material is really interesting. Nice guy too!

Marked surprisingly easy given the amount of time/effort I put into my work. I loved the fact that there were no midterms/finals. He goes through the readings pretty thoroughly and I felt as if I read them even though I didn't.

His class room and lectures are structured, He is helpful in going through the readings. He is a hard marker, he wants his studetns to memorize parts of the reading and lecture word for word instead of applying what we have learned. He has a strict criteria for marking.

He expects you to work- you are at university. He is the most fair professor. No freebie marks, but you can learn SO MUCH from him. Go to class, do the readings, and you can get good marks. Don't make spelling or grammar mistakes (c'mon, it's communications people!) My favourite prof.

So boring. Expects so much out of you. Wants you to do badly. No matter how hard I worked, he still screwed me with marks. Not even he would do well if he took one of his midterms. I will never take a class with him again.

If you go to the lectures and take good notes, you should do fine. But don't rely on just reading the textbook or you'll be screwed. His first mid-term is a killer, expects too much (too many specifics) from essay answers on the exam.
