Overall professor Needham is okay, but he's grading system is little unclear when it comes to tests and quizzes. His lectures can get little boring, especially if you are not very familiar with the language.

Exams were similar to the handouts he gave out along with some stuff in class. It does not feel he likes being a professor and views all students as children along with many other condescending statements he makes. Very unaccommodating for any reason sports, religious, work, he doesn't care feels his class is beyond anything else.

I love his lectures, filled with lively discussions and he is funny. some might find him weird for talking about his PhD and him living in France. but it is understandable because those are his proud accomplishments. he tries to makes conversations with the students and is very understanding.

Professor Needham is good and very fair, I am not the best at French and he has given me many chances to bring my grade up, We have 4 Exams and he drops the lowest test, he throws lots of points in, He realizes that French is difficult and will explain anything you ask him, He keeps your attention as well see him during his office hours for help.

I do not recommended him. I was in his class for a day and I dropped the class. He was extremely unprofessional and did not make me feel welcomed in the class (Greek Civilization). He is very rude and makes you feel very low. Any class with his name, I wont be taking. Also, very strict about technology and required 25 min oral presentation in class

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this professor. He is extremely rude and condescending. I also thinks he has a superiority complex. I have seen him go back and forth with 2 students. Unprofessional! He expects you to be fluent in an intro to French course. Needless to say, I withdrew.

Probably the worst professor I've ever had. I was a visiting student, and all I experienced was extremely condescending lectures, constantly talking down to people and flaunting at every second that he has a PhD. Really made you feel bad if you didn't know the answer and made sure you felt dumb in the class.

I do not understand where all these bad comments are coming from. He is a great professor. He is so knowledgeable and so clear. It is a foreign language. Of course you have to pay attention. Languages have rules like English does. He is so helpful and he will never let you fail. Take it! It is such a good fun class.

Professor Needham is one of a kind, that's for sure. Don't bother trying to email him, he doesn't use technology. Needham was very rude to students, especially ones who needed a little more time with the language that they were studying. He's downright awful, please do yourself a favor and veer away from this joke.

At first Dr. Needham can seem very demanding and rude but, as the course went on, he's easy to warm up to. He is very animated during class to make it more interesting. My class always had a good laugh. Grades fairly and will definitely help you if you are struggling. Overall a pretty good professor.

Nino is an excellent professor. I had the pleasure of taking him Fall 2013 for Italian and learned so much from his class. He is a well rounded professor. I wish I was at PSU so that I could continue to take his classes. Do your work, show up, make an effort, and this guy will work with you until you get it. He is a very intelligent character.

Very energetic! He comes off as very demanding of his students at first, but as the class goes on he becomes very cool. You can go to him with questions and hes more than willing to help! He is also great to talk to about anything! He is very involved and excited about teaching!

Really good teacher. Makes you participate in class but he helps you out. Tests are pretty easy. He tells you exactly what will be on the tests. Gives quizzes regularly. Pretty funny to top it off. I recommend him as a teacher.

i grew on to needham well into the class. he can rub you off in the wrong way at first, but you'll get used to him and even like him, he is very helpful, he'll be patient with you. if you attend class, and take your work seriously, he will make the course better for you.

Took him for Italian (3 levels), he comes off as intimidating but as long as you come to class early, do your work and participate he's extremely nice. He was very helpful. He doesn't take nonsense from anyone. He will tell you if you should drop the class if he doesn't think you're serious or well prepared. One of my fave teachers & entertaining.

Needham is a bit quirky but he is the funniest person i have ever met. Love his class and i look forward to it. He really makes sure you know your stuff. He talks a lot during class- and expects you to talk a lot too. There are a lot of reading and group exercises. Its really fun.. he makes the class so great. i recommend him!! excellent teacher
