this is the WORST TEACHER EVER. i took him even though i knew the ratings were horrible. don't do it. he yells, gets frustrated when you don't understand, makes you feel stupid for asking questions, and he is not very helpful at all. WILL NEVER TAKE HIM AGAIN.

Professor Jorge is the best Math teacher I have ever had.He is tough, but will spend time after class and even allows you to call him at home for help. He uses terminology that can be hard to understand but he knows his stuff! He also cares about the students who want to succeed. His yelling isn't really yelling, he's passionate! Thanks you!

He knows his stuff but he is RUDE!!!!! He made me cry and I'm not one to cry. If you ask a question he yells at you for not understanding even though he says ask questions. I would never take him agian, he co-signed my hatred for math.

Although I probably failed the class, Dr. Saavedra is an amazing professor. Very knowlegable and grades with a 10 point curve. I will definitely take him again next semester if I don't pass. Joseph Casillas

Wow, DO NOT ENROLL! He is not very clear, offers NO help to students, and is very impatient. Maybe for upper-division math, he uses alot of terms as speak. Hard to understand, and then YELLS at you if you ask a question. Run far and run FAST!!!

Impossible class to pass! Im fairly good at math and took calc n high school, but the tests were impossible to pass. i would study for days and he'd mark you down on the stupidest things like not explaining something when the question never said to explain! I thought he was a cool teacher just very difficult

Jorge is by far the worst teacher I have ever had! I learned more from the book than from the teacher. I did all my homework and even went to tutoring regularly but still failed most of his tests. He goes over a lot of information, but only puts a fraction of it on the test. Also he is really mean!!!! BEWARE

he is by far the worst teacher i have ever had. he explained the material in a brusque manner and then chided students for asking questions. he brought several students to tears. i passed math 50 with a B but failed this course.

This class was not in the slightest difficult. As long as you do your homework when it's assigned the tests are a breeze. All the material from the tests are taken directly from the homework. My only criticism is that, at times, it can be difficult to understand what he is saying due to his thick Chilèan spanish accent.

Comment:

Grade figured from only 4 tests plus final exam. He does not collect homework assignments, it is very important to make sure to keep current with homework do not fall behind and you will do well. He does drop one test score, your lowest. He does have a heavy accent, so communication is sometimes difficult. I would take them again.

I agree with alot of the comments already posted. He kept asying we should ask questions then yelled at the class for not understanding the material. And the tests were supposed to be off the homework but were way trickier than any of the homework. Most of the class was frustrated with his teaching methods.

Stay away! He seems to have a difficult time teaching the subject. I got a B in math 50 and got a D his class. I have to retake math 60 now. I definitely won't take it with him. More than 1/2 the class was gone by the end and many who stayed were failing. Something's wrong! Tests were very hard. Always a little trick in the questions.

By far the WORST teacher at Palomar College DO NOT take his class. Expects you to know problems from math 50/60. Has an accent, I speak spanish and i just think this teacher is a joke. If you have not taken math in a while do not take his class. When he gets mad his blood pressure goes up and gets mad when you ask to many question on homework.

only because I didn't place high enough on the EPT even though I got an A in college algebra in HS. anyways, i can see how the other people think he is hard because he does not explain much and does everything by the book, and if you don't get it too bad for you. the class should be easy for you if you have taken a higher level class in the past.

This teacher tells you to ask questions, then yells at you when you do. If he asks you a question you don't know the answer to he will get angry then too. Quizzes and tests are very hard since he can't explain math worth anything. The questions aren't like what he gives for homework. About 10 out of 30 people took the final. AVOID CLASS IF YOU CAN!

He is very hard to understand, accent and teaching style. The tests and exams are very difficult. The questions are nothing like what he has you do for homework. Attending class is useless, he doesn't teach you anything. He is the worst math teacher at Palomar. Avoid him if possible.

He knows how to teach students math. It is kind of hard to understand him at first but once you get past that he explains things in a way that is so simple!!! His 2nd 2 tests were hard! do the homework and you'll do great. I would love to take him for higher level math courses

Currently taking Math100 class.Comes off like he thinks this class is a joke. Always saying,"You should know this,we did it in Math 50/60."The thing is that some people didn't take Math 50/60 or haven't done this in years!Gets mad when we don't say yes we get it or no we don't, gets more cranky when we say we no & he has to say it again.hw not col.

i thought Jorge was somewhat of an ok teacher. But to tell you the truth he was very confusing at times. I would only recommend this teacher for those who really really enjoy math or pick it up easily, if you don't, try not to take his class.

Jorge is really, really difficult to understand. Not necessarily his accent...but he approaches it as though you should already know the material, and that he is just reviewing it for you. It is really obnoxious. But...he doesn't collect homework and he is a fairly nice guy.
