Comment:

Dr. Mott was my favorite professor this semester. He knows how to keep lectures engaging and his jokes in class kept everyone laughing. His test questions are very simple and ask you to understand material but didnt require much critical thinking. I wish I could take more classes from him in the future.

Comment:

He likes giving the material in his lectures, so you'll want to be at every class. He a tough teacher, but a good one. He also does his best to relate to the students and has some very good one-liners.

Comment:

Mott's lectures can be funny, which is good because you should really really go to class. The course overall has so much to cover and he covers it quickly, I didn't open the textbook once and did fine. Definitely would be good if you have taken other biology courses as a foundation. Study the lectures and you should be fine.

Mott covers a lot of material, but asks very basic test questions. Most of the questions come from practice tests he gives out before hand.

Dr. Mott really does care about his students. Lots of funny videos/jokes/interesting examples throughout lecture. ALL exam questions come from lecture. Practice exams are very similar to real exams. Class attendance is extra credit. Exams are usually curved (based on class average, not on the highest score of the class). Memorization heavy!!

This class is tough but Mott makes it bearable. He cares about students & does his best to make class engaging, using videos and jokes in lecture. Very clear about what will be on exams and doesn't go into too much detail. Practice exams are similar to exams given. Exams are often curved. Lectures are recorded & extra credit is given for attending.

Everything tested on was what he went over in lecture, which was super nice. I can't find any problems with Dr. Mott at all. Explained things very well. It seems like he truly enjoys teaching. Shows lots of cool videos, which keeps students engaged. The class can be tough, due to the amount of material. Never once looked in the textbook.

Comment:

Dr. Mott is a great professor! It's obvious that he loves to teach and if you really want to learn about biology in-depth, Dr. Mott is for you. Take good notes on the lectures and practice "teaching" it to others to really get the concepts down. Great class overall.

Comment:

Mott is very energetic and passionate about the subject he teaches. Pretty reasonable about curving the tests. Speaks clearly, usually has some neat examples so lectures are engaging even if Bio isn't your thing. Hardest part of the course is Krebs cycle and stuff. If you've ever taken a science AP class, this shouldn't be bad. Memorization heavy.

Really funny and energetic. Tests were based directly from lecture material, so don't miss class. Didn't really ever read the textbook.

Dr. Mott was pretty great. He's really passionate about biology and does a good job making the material understandable. Keep in mind though, biology is hard. This was the first time I'd ever taken a biology class in my life, so everything was new and I had to review every lecture several times before things began to make sense.

Dr. Mott was super interesting, and if you study and know his material well, then you will do fine on the tests. I recommend literally copying down the slides onto flashcards or taking notes on them before the tests because most of his questions come directly from the slides. He is a tough grader, and wouldn't round my grade from a 79.8% :/

Dr. Mott is one of the best teachers I've had in college. He teaches in a way that keeps you interested makes the material easy to learn and remember. His tests are reasonable, but not super easy. You will not do well in this class if you don't attend because he does a significant portion of work on the board. The lab is pretty fun too.

Comment:

Attendance is optional but you get extra credit for it. Tests are difficult, but Mott is an engaging lecturer and prepares you well. Curves tests. Plenty of review sessions by TAs. You can get by without the textbook as long as you take notes in lecture. Lectures are recorded and available on Canvas. Must buy online MasteringBiology for homework.

Comment:

Dr. Mott is a good professor. He is pretty funny and knows how to teach well. The test are very difficult, but if you go to all the lectures and study, you will pass. Sometimes he puts a curve on his tests if you are lucky. Its a good class to take, but don't do it unless you have to for your major.

Comment:

Dr. Mott is a great professor! He is a funny guy and a great lecturer. While the tests are hard, he will often curve the tests in a way that benefits the whole class. You definitely need to work in this class but it is a great one to take!
