Love Dr. Smith! For lab, he gave 4 quizzes and a department final (easier than quizzes). I liked how he did not make us write too much, and he collected notebooks at the end of the semester to where pre and post lab sheets were the only things to turn in weekly. Quizzes are hard on memorization, but he will let you know the week before he gives it.

He is a very nice man and funny. However, his class only consists of 4 exam grades and a final. He will drop your lowest exam grade. No homework assignments or quizzes. So if you don't do well on his exams you won't do well in this class. He teaches well, but his exams are hard.

Don't take this class! Very nice man, but his quizzes are brutal, he doesn't provide the correct answers to questions you missed, and he doesn't always let you know when there's going to be a quiz. He assigns seats like you're in elementary school. Have an A in lecture, but struggling for a C in this class. I didn't feel supported at all.

If you're a visa student or an immigrant and english is not your first language DO NOT take him. I received an A with Burkart and also an A with Dutta and also got an A on the lab. However, mr. Smith will try to fail you "Legally". He also assigns your seat by alphabetical order on the first date of class.

VERY NICE PROFESSOR. WE HAD NO QUIZZES OR TEST, JUST A FINAL, SO I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT IS NEW POLICY FOR HIM. ONLY THING WE HAD TO TURN IN WERE THE PRE AND POST LAB WORKSHEETS AND A REPORT. I took him for Lab only, evening class. He gives ample warning on when quizes will be, so there are no surprises. His tests are not easy, but not terribly hard either. If you study and know the material, you will do well. He is very approachable and easy to talk to/ask questions.

Dr. Smitn is a great teacher!Although his lecture is a little long and boring sometimes, you will do fine if you take his notes well.Everything on the test is from notes, and he also offers review session for each test. Make sure you participate the review session in order to get a good grade for the tests.

He is not the best chem teacher ever,far from it. His test are extremely long. It is difficult to finish on time. He is so much into writing on the board, that he fails to answer students at times. He does not explain the things that he writes on the board. I pretty much learned everything on my own. Take at your own risk. He is very nice, though.

Very knowledgeable, brings chemistry down to your level. Does not try to trick you in exams. Has excellent humor and very light hearted, not strict at all. Excellent at teaching, a born professor. Very clear on study guides for finals and exams.
