One of my favorite professors at CSUN. Brilliant and no nonsense. He actually knows how to teach & how to teach well. Every professor at CSUN should learn from him because he really knows how to impart knowledge & wisdom in a memorable way. Highly recommend this professor.

Excellent teacher and laid back and very knowledgeable. Able to teach music analysis so that you can understand it. He encourages your own creativity and opinions instead of shooting you down like other professors when you have an opinion. Take him for music analysis if you can!

Comment:

Great professor with a twisted sense of humor. He has a clear teaching philosophy and is interested in the student's long-term growth. That said, his analogies and criticisms may be off-putting at first, but after having him for a number of classes, I now understand and appreciate his method. Workload is light and practical, and he is entertaining.

Dr. Marinescu is definately one of the best professors in the music department! He made music analysis so interesting!Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go to class in order to keep up with everything....just the fact that he's so good looking won't make you want to miss a lecture.

for a person who struggled with music analysis (and didn't pass the first time around), I really enjoyed taking his class. For the first time, music analysis was actually interesting. His approach is FAR from "mechanical", and he's really funny too. Come to class, pay attention, do the 2 projects, take the tests (pretty easy), and you'll be fine. :

If you want to take musical analysis, don't take his class because if you don't understand in the class, he doesn't give you clear explanation, and you cannot learn anything. The only way is he likes to draw a dinasour to tell you what is going on. Also, his exam is very hard! It is hard to pass his class.
