Comment:
She is not clear about anything. Does not follow the rubric and is always falling behind. Is not helpful when you ask questions and uses a quite condescending tone sometimes. She is passionate about Spanish/ Spanish Literature, but is not good at teaching it. The only good thing is she gives the test questions beforehand.

She mocked a kid with a mental disability in my class and rolled her eyes at him. I can handle her being rude to me but to a kid with mental disabilities? That's unacceptable. She is one of the most condescending rude professors I've had

Very degrading if you answer incorrectly. She frequently mocks students and become very impatient when students answer incorrectly. Never uses the board so it can be very difficult to understand her. I excel in spanish however this is a very frustrating class due to her lack of teaching.

She sucked. The tests weren't that hard but she'd take points off for every little thing. She calls on people and if you doin't know the answer she won't shut up. I wouldn't take her class again.

Read the book, or at least sparknotes in Spanish and you'll be alright. If you answer questions in class you will do well. If you fall behind with the reading it can be daunting to catch up, so try to stay with the class.

Dr. Hicks means well. She gets upset when people don't participate or try to understand the material. She always offers help and if you pay attention she tells everything that will be on the test.

Comment:
The course is way too difficult for a spanish 101 course. She gives you exercises in class, which does not help at all because she doesn't explain pertinent information (you learn ENTIRELY from the textbook). She gets impatient and rude if you don't get something, esp if you ask her a question about it. She doesn't answer it. Makes you feel stupid.

Comment:
Prof. Hicks is really nice and it's okay if you miss class but you're the one who misses out. The material for this class is hard and much of it is clarified in class. The written tests are pretty hard too even though she gives you half of it the class before hand so you have time to look over it. I would recommend her but El Quixote is ahardclass.

She doesn't really explain things very clearly. She means well, but she doesn't always teach the material as claerly as she could.

She was really tough, but i did learn alot. She would get mad at our class for not knowing what she was saying, when she spoke fluently. (this was spanish 1) I made sure to not take her again

I thought this class was terrible. She speaks in Spanish the entire time and calls on students unexpectedly, and if you don't know the answer she won't let it go. She makes you feel stupid if you don't say the right thing. The tests weren't too bad, but being in the class for 2 hours was unbearable, and she doensn't let you go early ever.

Scared me at first with how quickly she spoke Spanish, but you get used to it. Tests were easy - she basically takes the tests directly from in-class discussions and assignments. Class was a little boring, though - and she will call on you without your raising your hand!!
