Comment:
Awful professor. There was absolutely no point in showing up for the class because there was basically no lesson plan and I woke up at 8 am to watch movies that taught me nothing about the course. Ive also messaged her several times about my assignments and she put in my final grades without ever messaging me back

Very laid back class. Dr. Jaster is a very well educated fun loving professor. She has a great passion for the plays she discusses. You will go into groups and each group will read and discuss a play. No exams or quizzes but she will keep track of who participates so just read the texts and talk.

This is the perfect course! She works hard to keep students engaged, adjusts the syllabus to the students needs as she gets to know them. Lots of varied activities. Fun!

The ratings say it all, you'll either love or hate her. Attendance is EXTREMELY important, if you talk to her and let her know you care, you'll get an A. Notices effort. Got through Shakespeare without reading a single play, just know plot/important quotations/dialogues for discussions. She likes it when you have an opinion. Kind of chaotic, though

She took this class on the day before the semester started so she was a bit disorganized. The group project and the synthesis was extremely annoying but she's a really easy teacher.

Loved her class. If you show up, participate in class discussions and do your work, you will be fine. Her class is fairly easy, but she does expect participation. Would take her again in a minute.

If you're an extrovert, you will love this class! Jaster teaches in a very formulaic way, which involves a group project throughout the semester, a final project at the end of it, and random grouping-up throughout. If you're an introvert, or simply don't like presenting or forced participation, this class will be more difficult to get through.

Dr. Jaster is an amazing Doctor at PSH. I've had her for most of my classes, and I love her classes. The way she teached is deliberate - the student-run projects are a way for students to prove they've read the text(s) and it is a chance for everyone (including Jaster) to learn. Students are given the chance to learn from those on the same level.

Took 3 classes w her. She has rolled her eyes and giggled during student presentations, played on her tablet during synthesis projects, taken months to return papers, bragged about causing students to transfer with her gossiping, skipped numerous classes, and referred to a select group of students as her "peeps". You have to take her to graduate.

Comment:
A major waste of time. The lectures are taught by students while she sits back and chats with people about their personal lives. She is invasive, passive aggressive & a generally disappointing professor. It was an unhealthy learning environment. I got an A in every class because I taught myself. If you want to better yourself, stay far away.

Very strict with attendance- According to the syllabus "If you miss more than 2 classes, DO NOT EXPECT AN A." Attendance is necessary, however, things do happen in people's lives that are uncontrollable.

Dr. Jaster has been one of the best professors I've ever had. I came into this class absolutely dreading it, but she made it fun and easy to understand. The student projects are a blast and make learning the texts much easier. Her lack of clarity comes from her being open to whatever you want to write. Prove you listen in class, and you're good.

Dr. J. is not an easy professor, but if you are willing to put forth some effort she will reward you. She prefers to incorporate student's ideas and knowledge by using group presentations to teach, hence the students become 'mini-experts.' This forces the student to formulate their own ideas regarding subject matter. Dr J. is amazing and unique.

If you like being taught by other students, Jaster is the prof for you. She plays favorites, misses lots of classes, and can be quite the bully. I really resent the amount of money I paid for this course.

One of the most frustrating professors I have come across at Penn State. She has yet to teach one class herself, she lets her students do the teaching, as if they have a masters in shakespearean education. I have never dreaded going to a class as much as this one. Also, her favoritism is harmful to the learning process and class environment.

5 of her classes.Displays favoritism, but only in the form of extra praise.Does know her stuff, but because of the peculiar class set-up - lessons are run by students each week as projects - students do not get to take advantage of it.Also having problem w/ recommendation letter.Ratings are fair; decide from these if you would like her or not.

She has a good energy and enthusiasm for her subject, but she shows a large amount of favoritism towards a few students. The projects are an absolute waste of time and she doesn't do any teaching.
