She really sticks to the syllabus and is very clear about what she wants in her assignments. A bit of a tough grader, but really helps you to understand the Peruvian culture. Remember facts from the excursions as they often show up on the following quiz. Presentations are easy A's.

Bierling is an AMAZING professor. She explains the grammar so well and has such a deep understanding of the language. One on one time with her I also found to be very helpful. The subjunctive used to be a mystical challenge for me, but is now natural.

She's a great prof! The content is kind of tough and confusing but she explains it really well. The homework is kind of a lot but if you keep up on it you'll be fine. She gives quizzes pretty often but that's good because it helps you remember the material for the test. Do the work, ask questions, keep up on hw, you'll be fine!

She is very unclear about assignments and there is a lot of unexpected homework. She is a really sweet person, but shes not easy to get along with. If you like to be confused and frusterated, then take this class.

Bierling is a nice person, but not a good teacher. She introduces a new lesson without throroughly explaining it, and she never checks to make sure the class understands. If you don't understand something in class and you are doing poorly on quizzes, there's nothing you can do except keep trying; there is no outside help.

Very friendly and helpful. Energetic and passionate about teaching Spanish. She is a very meticulous grader, but it is not hard to pull of an A as long as you do all the assigned work and show that you are genuinely trying to learn.

If you pay very careful attention to the compositions, and have a positive attitude in her class, you'll most likely to have an A.

Very good prof. She is really nice and helpful and her class was very interesting. She is normally a linguistics prof., so you need to make sure you know your grammar really, really well on tests and compositions. Tests are pretty hard, but if you take the time to study and make sure you know the material well, you'll do fine

This class (linguistics) is really hard. She grades really hard--sometimes forgets that we are still learning spanish and haven't been speaking it for years. Really nice though, and a great prof!

Really Nice, Lots of energy. Tests are very hard, there is so much homework but it all helps your grade if you do it. I don't. Also is nice if you don't come sometimes but after four missed classes you get marked down 1% each extra time.
