Comment:
Dr. Peffley is a hilarious professor and very dedicated to his classes, but be warned he assigns a lot of reading. His class is made up of PowerPoint lectures about the more complex readings and the occasional pop quiz. Though attendance is optional, you will not get an A if you do not go. He teaches really interesting courses and is so funny.

He is a fair grader when it comes to papers, but his lectures have almost nothing to do with what's on the tests. During this class the information on the slides and that he presented just seemed so easy, but the midterm and final had almost nothing from his slides or review session.

Lectures are long and dry. Will call you out if obviously not paying attention. Weekly quizzes in class that refer back to random studies nobody remembers or cares about. Lecture slides have too much info and graphs... practically impossible to take notes. Tests on info discussed in class and out of several books. Not impossible but not ideal.

Difficult to follow in class due to too much information on slides. Forget taking notes because he clicks so quickly through the slides. The exams are ridiculously difficult and reference weird studies that no one remembers studying in class. I'm a good student but I hated this class.

Dr. Peffley is awesome. His class is pretty easy. To do well on the exams, all you need to do is go to class and briefly look over the slides for like an hour before the exam and you'll do fine. I got an A on the last exam and never once read the book. Just pay attention in class and it's an easy A!

I've never had a professor so willing to bend over backwards to make sure students pass. I've never seen him condescending or disrespectful to a student. He has tons of easy quizzes, tests aren't that difficult, and the papers aren't either. he's also fun and engaging. One of my favorite PS profs. Easy, easy A.

Very passionate about the subjects he teaches and is very willing to do whatever it takes to make sure the student gets the most from the class and assists with grades if you show effort in the class. He even bought the entire class lunch one time when we to done with the discussion early. Very nice and loves cheesy jokes.

Incredibly rude and condescending to his students particularly those who have different opinions than his own. His lectures were unclear and hard to follow and he does not offer much help. Avoid if possible.

Peffley is very condescending. If you have even 1% conservative views DO NOT take his class. He does not respect other opinions. He is very tough at grading and the lectures have so much information it is impossible to write any of it down. I recommend taking Ledford instead. He does not tread on others beliefs and opinions.

Great professor - an expert in his field. He's also pretty funny and personable, in a quirky way. While people claim he's biased (and he's not bashful about his opinions), he always has facts to back up his claims. This frustrated a lot of conservatives in class who had baseless arguments. Overall great experience though!

I thought this class was going to be very interesting and dread going. He has extremely liberal views and slanders the other party while in class to spark debate but no one cares to respond. Tests are multiple choice but hard and you have 5 clicker questions a class. Avoid taking his class.

Probably the worst class I have taken at UK. I dreaded going. Supposedly he puts up extremely liberal indoctrinating slides to spur debate but it doesn't work. I do not recommend this professor even though he seems to be a nice guy, but I'm not paying for niceness. Bottom line avoid like the plague.

Horrible teaching style. Puts up slides with way to much information on them, reads them, and then goes on to the next slide before anything useful can be written down. Boring and pointless teacher. And I thought this class would be interesting

The class seems like it will be very interesting, but trust me, you should avoid it at all costs. I got an A in the class but by the end of the semester I hated it (as did most of the class) and hated his teaching. Somedays it felt like he was trying to instigate a fight with the class.

Worst teacher I ever had in the political science department and that is what I majored in. He is a horrible teacher and bases your grade on a midterm and final exam only! He ruined the topic for me and my friends!

Extremely liberal and does not explain himself when asked certain questions. He will just ask you a question that will go along with his point and reject your argument if it does not "jive" with his. Has extreme ADD

I wish the grade wasn't dependent on a total of sixty questions. There should have been more assignments to test the students understanding. He knew the subject and could be kind of funny. Still theres was no telling where you stand in the class and work isn't distributed well.

Very smart, nice liberal prof. He actually understands the way the media works, but sometimes has a hard way of explaining it. The tests are wildcards, good luck with them.

Peffley is so far left he's about to fall off a cliff. He suffers from Bush derangement syndrome. This guy actually claims that the lamestream media is right-wing. Give me a break! If you want to debate with him be prepared, he's very intelligent.
