Crimmins is an amazing prof, and gives great lectures. He is very good at explaining concepts and the videos he assigns for homework are all made by him which are all great because he simplifies even the most complex reactions. He is definitely the BEST professor in the chem department.

Dr. Crimmins is fricken adorable. He has the perfect amount of humor to make class interesting but not too over the top. Watch all the videos before class and copy the notes in them and you won't have to spend time in class copying everything down and can actually pay attention. His tests are extremely fair and never any curve balls.

Comment:
Dr. Crimmins was a solid choice for organic chemistry. He cares about his students and is very respected at UNC and in his field. However, he will not always walk you through each concept step by step which was hard if you didn't understand from the before-class assignments. He was nice though and bumped by grade at the end of the semester.

Dr. Crimmins is the best chem professor at UNC. Orgo is an extremely challenging class, but Dr. Crimmins makes it tolerable and I loved going to his class. He is very energetic, and his videos are a lifesaver. I read the textbook and used the videos, and I thought the tests were always fair. He never threw surprises in there.

Crimmins is super caring, funny, and approachable, and he genuinely makes orgo tolerable. It's still a ridiculously hard class with material that is hard to relate to in the current way that it's taught, but going to lecture was never a chore. Tests don't have any surprisesdo the practice tests and watch the videos. You got this!

Comment:
Not the most organized but if you pay attention in lecture it'll come together. Uses real life examples. Gives you everything you need to study. No surprises on the tests. Lectures are just re-runs of videos he makes. If you learn well in lectures (i don't), hes your guy. Otherwise the textbook is very clear and will help you with practice problems

At first I was a bit skeptical of all the positive reviews, but he really did prove himself to be very approachable and helpful and always available when I had a question on something. Class was difficult but doable. Previous semesters they dropped your lowest exam but this time around it was just weighted less which wasnt all that helpful

Dr. Crimmins is an awesome person and professor. CHM262 is a challenging class which requires time and lots of practice no matter what professor you take. However, Dr. Crimmins is an amazing lecturer he explains complex topics in an easy way and his preclass videos are a gem. The exams are challenging but he gives you all tools you need to succeed!

Hot take- I did not like Crimmins as much as everyone hypes him up. He was a plain man who posts good videos but that was about the best thing in this class. Lecture was so boring and long and pointless. If you watch the videos and do some practice problems, you'll be fine. Final was rough.....

Crimmins is the GOAT. Took orgo 1 with Austell and cried my eyes out but orgo 2 with Crimmins was so much more reasonable. Just watch his videos before lectures and you will be more than fine. No need to read the textbook or work out any textbook problems. Just do the couple worksheets he gives you. Will say the final was kinda hard.

Its Orgo, it is easily one of the hardest classes you will ever take. Crimmins does a good job teaching the material compared to other chem professors, but the material is still very difficult. Tests count for basically all your grade and they are VERY hard. Crimmins, although not perfect, is the best option for CHEM 261.

Hes the most genuine person Ive ever met. The best way to describe Mike is a total dad. Hes cynical but wants everyone to do well. He gets a little salty if you repetively ask dumb questions but hell still answer them and try to help you to the best of his ability. I could not have imagined not having orgo with him. HIGHLY recommend.

Don't take other instructors' CHEM 261 or 262 class. If you fail to enroll Prof. Crimmins' class, just take his class in the next semester.

Highly organized, absurdly knowledgeable, reasonably challenging and truly inspiring. If every STEM professor at UNC was held to this standard, we'd produce the most well-prepared chemists and biologists. Seriously. Michael T. Crimmins was born to teach. TAKE HIS CLASS.
