Michael Penn is an excellent teacher. He has a lot of presence and can gauge the needs/interests of his students very well. He is very engaging and makes the class very interesting. This is a tough class, you need to start early on papers. Follow his directions related to readings. All in all, one of the best class I've ever taken

He's an incredible teacher. He loves the class, loves teaching, and it pays off you'll find yourself enthralled by the topic (the Bible?? really?!) and even if you're not usually good at participating, he makes it rewarding and easy. Would take all of his classes. He's well prepared, organized, thorough, and low stress. Not easy though!

Michael Penn is probably the best professor I've ever had. Exceedingly knowledgable, hilarious, and a pro at facilitating class discussion. Loved his class and will be taking more classes with him in the future if at all possible.

I'm SO glad I decided to take this course. Michael is brilliant, hilarious, fair, approachable, very friendly, nothing bad to say about him! Papers are very challenging, quizzes are pretty easy as long as you attend class regularly. I will be taking more courses with him in the future, and I highly recommend that you take a course with Michael.

Michael is great, but I think he shines in his 300 levels more than in his 200 levels. He has a knack for explaining tough concepts, is NEVER condescending, and he really believes in all his students. You'll learn a lot from him. I can't say enough great things about michael - TAKE HIS CLASSES!!!

SO WONDERFUL!!! I adore Michael Penn and think everyone should take a course with him. He's definitely a tough grader, and sometimes goes a little overboard on the reading, but he's SO helpful, and SO approachable, and SO smart, that it's all worth it.
