Wise is funny and insightful. He definitely knows the law and often adds jokes or stories, usually relevant to the topic. He is extremely approachable and always available after class, or whenever, to answer questions and help clarify issues. One of my favorite professors.

Um not sure what the other posts are talking about, his jokes are terrible...he spends more class time on a tangent than teaching anything of relevance. His exam wasn't too bad but it didn't make up for the misery of sitting in his class while other students constantly stroked his ego. You might get a better grade if you go on a date with him.

What a great, humble and down to earth guy. His jokes are hilarious and his side stories interesting. He often deviates from the subject he is teaching to tell funny personal stories, usually about being somewhere in South America or Africa. I would definitely take more classes with him!!

Best professor, best class. His entertaining, engaging, discussion-oriented style leaves the black letter law up to you, but if you come to class prepared you'll leave with a thorough understanding of the law you need to know for the exam. His exams are fair, no hiding the ball, and the questions are...fun?

I have had Wise for Civ Pro and Con Law. He lets students go on irrelevant tangents and that is kind of frustrating. Certain students "interpret" the law the wrong way, and Wise is too kind to tell them they are wrong, he usually finds a round-about way to correct them. I would be happy if he taught all of the law school courses.

I had him for Civ Pro (and now Con Law 2). He's not the most organized, but he's very nice, funny, and interested in helping students.

Excellent prof. Few con law issues are simple. He pauses to take the time to think about how to accurately answer our questions. He offers a lot of insight if you just watch for it. He is brilliant, but will never make a student feel dumb.

Laid back class, pretty fun environment. Wise does go on tangents but as long as you get the main point of the cases and figure out the tests to use, you should be fine. Wise is very helpful outside of class. I'd take another class from him again if I had to.

Really funny and relaxed guy. Don't take a class with this him if you are looking for clarity. He has long pauses when he talks, makes simple concepts convoluted. But, if you learn better on your own anyway, then it's worth taking a class with Wise because at least he will make you laugh.

Prof. Wise navigates the murky waters of Con Law with the mastery of Magellan. He conducts class discussions with grace of Previn. Not since Dean Langdell himself has someone had a firmer grasp of the casebook method of teaching. To paraphrase Nathan Hale, I only regret that I have but one Con Law final to give to Michael Wise.

Really nice guy. Hard to follow along in class, and he does seem to go off on tangents at times. But makes it enjoyable to go to class. Only thing he could do is to ask students more questions, be a LITTLE more of a hard ass I guess. Easy to talk to in class, and out of class. I would take a class from him again in a second.

OK so he went on tangents, but this is one of the nicest and most helpful professors I ever had. Why don't you try teaching civil procedure while keeping a bunch of 20-somethings interested. This is the most boring area of law (no fault of Mike's) and Prof. Wise did his best to keep us awake and interested.

yes, he went on tangents, but he still covered plenty in class. yes, there was a LITTLE profanity, but so what? i appreciated that, although he was a liberal, he always gave both sides w/o much of a liberal slant. of course, it's pretty hard to argue against scalia/thomas, since they're always right. Good guy.

Broad wealth of knowledge and experience re: Con Law. Very accessible and friendly. Energetic. Eschews stereotypical professor behavior by being very engaged. Can be lead off topic, but he'll usually find his way back. Great lectures.
