She is so fabulous as a professor! You can tell she cares deeply about her students and her work. Just listening to her speak, I have learned so much about the History of English and other topics. The class mainly consists of notes and conversations within class. There is a midterm, two exercises, a final paper, and group work-- which are easy!

Patty is a great teacher that is passionate about linguistics. She knows her subject very well. Although linguistics is not my forte, the class was decent. There's only a few assignments, but they aren't difficult, though she is hard to please sometimes. She is looking for specific things. It's still a good class though and I'd recommend Patty!

Patty is a great professor. Although, I did not enjoy the course because I am not a linguistics person, but overall the class is pretty decent. Theres two journal exercises, a midterm, a group project, & a final paper. None of these are all that hard unless you're like me and hate linguistics. She grades pretty fairly too. Overall, I recommend her.

She is amazing professor! She was the best English professor I have had. Getting an A in her class is simple, you have to try hard NOT to get an A. She said class attendance was mandatory, but once everyone settled in and was doing good on papers, she never really enforced it too much, but then again my class had like 10 people in it. RECOMMENDED!

She has a very interesting and engaging way of teaching, just like an English professor should, and makes class worth attending. If I was an English major, or had room in my schedule for electives, I would have taken more classes with her.

I had Prof. Friedrich my freshman year at ASU and four years later, I have yet to have a professor as awesome and as enthusiastic as she was. She brings such a spark to the classroom and made the course have that small, close-knit feel that I missed from AP courses. Completely recommend her- hands down!

I'll echo the last comment, adding that Patty is very reasonable and willing to help with individual students' difficulties. She encourages open discussion in class, and will share her personal opinions and experience to help make students more comfortable. (She is also beautiful, and quite charming all around. Yes, this is irrelevant.)

Superb professor, brilliant woman. Tough but fair grader; you'll really grow as a writer from her class. Treats her students like thinking adults and takes interest in them individually. Very easy on the eyes (which is completely irrelevant to this evaluation, of course). Take her if you have the opportunity!

She is super nice. She really cares about her students. I would take her again. She is a teacher that you can relate to. The assignments were easy. The quizes were easy as long as you read the book. She adds to the class by offering to teach anything you are interested in on Fridays!

Patty is wonderful. She was both easygoing and fair, I really enjoyed English with her. Class was more discussion based, with only four papers... She recommends getting the book, but most articles from it can be found online.
