Comment:

Professor Allen is the reason I changed majors. As am introductory class to communication design this turned me totally off. I knew nothing about photo shop or illustrator and hoped to learn the basics and maybe more in this class. But all this man did was yell, judge and make you feel tense and stupid. He didn't provide clear guidelines at all.

If you aren't familiar with Illustrator and/or Photoshop I wouldn't recommend taking him for this course. I came into this class new to graphic design and I feel like I barely even know the basics to both Illustrator and Photoshop.

This was one of the best courses I took at city tech. Prof. Allen gave me a bigger perspective about what we do , and some important basic info. about things like composition and color.

He's alright. It wasn't a problem for me to learn the basics of illustrator seeing how I learned it before hand. He is one of those easy A professors so if you want to actually learn the software by heart then by all means take a different professor. However, if you don't care about learning the software but you want an easy A then take him.

If you're looking for a helpful class revolved around structure, this isn't the prof. for you. He's HIGHLY subjective and will only grade you based on if it's catered to his personal taste. He has a huge "hippie" mentality. He's very lax but will get easily frustrated when someone asks for help and doesn't manage to understand him.

Good class. Prof. helped me a lot and showed me how to use images on the web to get my work better. Lots of one on one which is good. I like Illustrator now. Talks about other things like news stuff but it ends up helping your work

Had him for Raster and Vector and he teaches but he isn't the most efficient professor. He just does whatever he wants. He made up projects on the spot. And in between class he would start going into random topics that could bore you to death.

This class was easy and hard. The prof. talked about a lot of art and history and that made it more interesting to me. He also knew things in the programs that are not in the books and are good to know. he helped me when i was stuck in a nice patient way. I liked this class.

Prof. Allen was really interesting. He gave us a lot of background and understanding for what we were doing and had us learning the programs almost like we weren't really working except for that at the end we knew the programs. He talks a lot about design & art history which is good 'cause it helped me understand what good looks like.

DON NOT TAKE HIM EVER! He is a worse prof. Doesn't teach us alot and talk so fast. Very selfish and mean with no respect for others. Always complain student, and show how cool he is . If you looking for a good prof, he definitely not the good prof you want to take!

HE'S THE WORST. Had him for vector art & learned nothin about Illustrator. He shows us how he does somethin cool, but doesnt tell us HOW. The whole class was clueless when the time came to do our 1st project. Then he gets frustrated & doesnt understand why we dont know how to use Illustrator. Doesnt teach from anything, just asks what we wanna know

LOL! This guy is really funny and a realy good teacher. He cares if his student know something or not. I didn't know nothing about illustrator before this class now i use it every day. He give us one long project and add new things to it as u go. You get into it andreally learn to do this program and it is fun to. You should take this guy.

he is an easy teacher, at times his jokes are corny but he is laid back. Take lots of notes and do your work and you should be fine. i felt i learned what i needed with illustrator and it's an easy program to pick up and if you really don't understand. ask. he will go over and over a topic. nice guy.
