DON'T TAKE HIST OF CHICAGO WITH HIM! It's a complete waste of time and you don't learn anything. If you want the easiest blow-off class, go for it, but don't expect to learn anything. All we did was watch movies that had nothing to do with Chicago. It's the last week of class and there isn't even a final. Total waste of time and very infuriating.

It's the 8th week of class and we have not learned anything about Chicago yet. He "teaches" completely unrelated - yet ironically well prepared - lectures on his liberal agenda. Just because. He has ignored the syllabus and doesn't care that essentially no one shows up anymore. I haven't learned anything.

I was very excited to take a history of Chicago class. It is currently week 7 and we have still learned almost nothing about Chicago. We watch movies that are irrelevant and have only needed to turn in 1 assignment so far. Mr. Lohne has taught us nothing. Complete waste of my time.

Great class overall. The guy is funny and makes it really clear. He actually tells it as a story and explains it in a way you don't feel depressed with tons of names and dictionary words, like in other history classes.

It may be an easy A, but if you actually show up and participate or listen to discussions you can learn a lot. Ray will make you think and is there to help his students out. I liked it because instead of reading about history in a boring book he talked about it or presented a movie. Interesting class, super chill & worry free.

He's very down-to-earth and has a good sense of humor. It's true about him giving everyone As. But the last two classes he randomly went on political rants to push the liberal agenda. Not only did it not relate to class but it was very random and made me feel uncomfortable. What a way to end the semester...

Ray is hilarious and he is super easy but his philosophy is that if your not worried about the grade then you can just sit back and actually pay attention to what is being said without having to worry about what notes your supposed to be taking. The movies and documentaries he shows in class are so interesting and It is just a nice laid back class

Raymond is awesome!! Not only is it an easy class he makes it interesting and worth your time. He's not one to sit back and read a history book, but go out in the world and make a difference! He's one of the only gen ed teachers that I feel really cares about change! After all Columbia is all about creating change!!

Ray is a great guy and a great teacher: people criticize him because he's easy, but they were the ones lounging in the back of class not paying attention. He has a lot of useful, politically active information to give: LEARN IT.

This was the BEST gen ed class I have ever taken. Not only did I get an A out of this class but he was successful in motvating me to learn. Every night when class was done I wanted to change the world. Great sense of humor, great text book, I wish I could take this class again.

I was set to write this teacher a glowing review. He started out so promising, but there are massive flaws in his pedagogy. He is an easy grader, which is what most of you want to know. But on that note his ease of grading undermines the entire body of his teaching as his class can be passed with minimal effort. Needs to learn from his mistake.

Dr. Lohne is incredibly hilarious and he knows his subject matter well. I had very little interest in taking any history classes until I met him. If you want to be in a fun environment and learn something new, he is a great instructor to be with. If I weren't graduation in a few days, I'd take another class with him

excellent teacher who actually cares about what's going on (both in the class and out in the real world) a true proletariat professor if there ever was one. teaches history of the american working class at night and works as a mechanic during the day.
