Comment:
Rude, closed minded, old fashioned and completely boring. Meyer is quite possibly the worst teacher ever. He is never pleased with any answer his students give. If you say A, he says B. They next day you can say B, and he'll say A is right. I've never had to work so hard for a grade. Don't take his classes!

Comment:
First, Meyers sometimes asked incomprehensible questions that resulted in blank stares. Secondly, quizzes did not reflect what was learned. Rather they were trick quizzes designed to weed out those who skimmed verus those who spent hours studying a piece. Ridiculous. I dropped b/c i couldn't learn from the professor. I refuse to pay for nothing

Anyone who complains about this teacher is doing so because they weren't willing to do the work. I learned more in this class than in any other English course at the university, and thank him for that. He was also quite funny at times, if not very subtle about it. You have to be willing to put a lot of time into this class, but it's worth it.

At first I thought the comments on here were just the product of many whiners: I was wrong. I know for a fact I did "B" to "A" work in his class, yet earned a "C". He doesn't let anybody know where they stand grade wise throughout the semester, and his quizzes and "end of the class" assignments are incredibly vague. He is a nice guy though.

Meyers is a pedagogical nightmare. He possesses no ability to communicate his expectations to students. His quizzes can be described with no other word than stupid. There's nothing more frustrating than reading a text and completely understanding but failing his quiz because you couldn't remember what the fourth word on the second page was. RUN

Some of you people are just too whiney. Ok, Robert Meyers is crazy, but he is not THAT hard. The problems is that most BGSU English Profs you can get by without ever even cracking a book. Some quizzes suck, but some are incredibly easy. The midterm and test he gives you the freaking answers in advance and lets you do at home! Plus a huge curve.

Had him for 202&265. He doesn't know how to teach. Lectures to himself about nothing. 202's homework and material was pretty incomprehensible and he doesn't know how to explain things. Short little papers, quizzes on specifics everyday. Impossible and horrible midterm. Final was 2x as bad. But somehow I ended up w/ a B for both classes. Major curve

I've been here 4 years and he is without a doubt the worst professor I have encountered. He is unclear about what he wants from the beginning yet he is an extremely tough grader. He is always late and never cancels class even though he rambels about nothing for 50 minutes.

Avoid taking him if possible! He is very vague in his assignments, so it is difficult to complete them to his satisfaction. The class average on the first exam was a 64%. It is all objective and very specific. Quizzes are impossible, but given every class. He is 10 minutes late to EVERY class. Very frustrating since the material is difficult.

Extremely condescending and vague in writing. While I agree that you learn a lot, I have taken many other English classes where I learned more and was not constantly being insulted. If you take his class, make sure you are very clear in essays and cite everything. He will say not to worry about this, but that's why a lot of people do bad early on.

This class should have been called Romantic Poetry, because that's really all we read. With the exception of Tennyson & Browning, everything is romantic period. We read absolutely no fiction; he took Frankenstein off of the list.

Dr. Meyers is a nice guy, but he is one of the most unclear teachers I have ever had at BGSU. He gives no guidelines about papers and no one got higher than a C on the first paper. He is an extremely difficult grader. Also he is very mean to some students; he made one girl cry because of the nasty remarks he made on her paper. Not reccomended.

He talks about the readings for a long time. Sometimes the class can be boring but you do learn a lot if you pay attention. I look at everything I read differently now because of the class. The papers are graded very strictly and the quizzes require you to pay close attention to details in storie
