I didn't have her for an actual course, rather a Byrne Seminar where you either pass or fail, so she couldn't have made it hard. I don't know anything about what she's like in regular class, but she's not exactly great at teaching. She's a very nice women and is definitely knowledgeable and passionate about history. Boring. Easy one credit course.

haven't attended a class except one in the 3rd week of school. From that, I decided I'd use my time better studying on my own. She's a nice lady, but teaching is definitely not for her. She speaks in a monotone that drives people to sleep (me and multiple students in her lecture) and the content is boring. Very knowledgeable on Roman history though

She's a very nice woman but her hybrid courses are tougher than you'd think. You will have to do research or do the work to get an A. Great to talk to if you're actually interested in Roman history. Lectures were long and unnecessary. Doesn't take attendance though. Online exams and papers but she finds a way to make it hard. I liked her though.

She's really invested in Roman history. But, teaching isn't for her. She's nice and will offer help. I thought this class was going to be an easy A, that's not the case at all. Prepare to read everyday, quiztest material is not in the slides that are shown in class. I'd suggest taking another class or another professor. It's a cool subject though!

Really nice and great to talk to one on one. The lectures are long but informative. There is a lot of onlinedo it yourself work with this class but it is manageable. I would recommend this class. Definitely not an easy A but one is achievable.

She drowns you in more reading then you could possibly do and does not go through events chronologically, which can make things kinda confusing. DO NOT TAKE HER. This will probably be the ONLY class I'll ever fail. And I have over 100 credits under my belt!

nice lady, bad teacher. if youre looking for a decent grade dont do it. She's a really tough grader. mid-term and final are impossible. I failed the 1st 3 hw assignments I went to office hrs 3 times w a notebook and pen to find out what I was doing wrong and she just said its fine youll be okay... my first and only C in college. Not worth it.

I have had Dr. Takacs for several classes and I have found her to be a delightful teacher. She is certainly demanding, but she tells you this right at thee get-go. She's a very sweet lady, she really knows her stuff, and she is always willing to help. I would certainly take her class again if I could. Put in thee effort & you'll be rewarded!

The class description seemed awesome. I knew almost nothing about Ancient Rome before the class. Now I know even less-She's confusing and I couldn't follow her lectures and I tried really hard. She makes us watch youtube videos instead of lectures and the online discussions were a complete mess. cant believe she's teaching more hybrids in the fall

Professor Takacs is highly knowledgeable and intelligent. This class wasn't easy even though all of the exams and quizzes were online. She also had us write an essay but it wasn't bad. You should really attend class to get every info

I am in the same class as the other reviews, and at first the grading was rigorous but she really does work with the grading to help you out. The exams and quizzes are online and you have 2 attempts at each so you can do really good. I skipped a lot of classes and got a 98 on the midterm. She is nice and really cares about the material.

Her subject knowledge is vast, but her teaching method is flawed. Midterm is manageable. It's online multi-choice. There are 5 online discussions each worth 8% of your grade which are graded with 400 level class standards. Weekly online quizes each worth 1.5% are easy but weigh so little. I love Roman history, but i regret taking it with her

Worst class I've ever taken. Honestly. The material is boring and she does nothing to make it exciting. Her grading is insane and she has a strange accent. This class is ruining my GPA. No one ever goes to it. Not worth the trouble. AT ALL.

This professor is absolutely horrendous. The class is the most disorganized mess I've ever been a part of. Grading is ridiculously difficult, professor is extremely unclear both in lectures and assignments, exams and quizzes have absolutely nothing to do with the class. Don't bother doing the readings because they don't pertain to the class.

this class is a complete mess, grading is ridiculous, knows a lot but doesn't know how to teach and lectures are so boring, goes off on tangents, tests, quizes, and discussions questions do not pertain to class, they are so vague, they get random, and she always seems to tie roman religion into the question. DON"T TAKE THIS CLASS

Lots of short quizzes online. Answers can all found in lecture and lecture outlines, so study them. Tests are anaylsis based where you make inferences based on themes you learned in lecture. Not impossible. Lots of online links/clips that help. She still offers to use student questions for quizzes.

I thought this class was good, then it started to get boring. Then her tests went from easy to absolutely impossible! She has online multiple choice tests but the last test was so ridiculous... I actually did the readings and I failed... this class is not worth the trouble. Impossible.

This class is incredibly disorganized. The grading system is horrible: attendence is not appropriately kept, she does not update sakai properly, and she made numerous mistakes on grading--saying I failed an exam when I never did. AND worse it took her forever to fix it. FINAL = IMPOSSIBLE.

The final was hard but only cuz she didnt use most of the questions provided by the students as potential exam questions and most students did not even do the readings or came to class because of it. If you go to class and take good notes and dont rely 100% on the students questions then you will do fine, class is good and the teacher is great!!

Enjoyable class during lecture, but exam difficulty is very random, midterms weren't bad but final was twice as hard and almost impossible. The final grading is also unfair and disorganized because of the large class. If you're looking for an A that you can work hard and study for, skip this class.
