Dr. G. is one of the most respected archaeologists in the field. This class is meant for serious (Anth) Archaeology majors. If that's not you, then skip this class. If you are motivated, she will help you. If not, she won't waste her time. Excellent class, excellent Professor. (and she DOES have a sense of humor!)

Best professor i've ever had! Her powerpoints are fantastic to take notes from. The class material is EXTREMELY HELPFUL. Never did I have to read some assignment that seemed irrelevant, we usually go over all material in class! If you miss class, she provides lecture summaries. Its not an easy class, but it's def. worth it!!!!

I will definitely give her six out of five if i could!! She is one of my favorite profs by far! Yes, you have to write a lot in and off the class. And you have to review the classnotes after class. But it was never a problem for me. The most charming part of her class is the logic underlying her PowerPoints. Spend some time and youll be great!

I took her Consumer Culture class thinking that it was going to be super easy (i'm not an anthro major) and it wasn't as easy as i thought. the lectures are really long and if you miss the class you don't participation points. the TA was good about giving help outside of the class though.

Very difficult class. Test were extremely hard. I'd rather take Calc again. Great teacher though. I know a lot about the Aztecs but evidently didnt matter when it came to the test. I also came down to two answers on the last 2/3 of the test which seem to be the correct answers. Dont Recommend Teacher. Hoping the extra credit will get me the C

The class is very interesting but is also HARD! Its one of the most challenging Anthro courses. You must study and memorize all the nahuatl terms if you want a good grade. Dr. Gillespi is very knowledgeable but can also be very direct and rude. Exams are difficult, but projects and extra credit help your grade.

Brilliant woman, really knows her stuff. Lectures are very interesting and she is incredibly helpful during office hours. Its not the easiest anthro class, but definitely worth it if you can take the time out for it

Is a smart woman, and teaches very well, but you will be expected to know a lot of terms from the Aztec language in her Aztec class, the test are about a third terms, and two of the projects are on these terms. The class is fun, but you better be ready to start learning Nauhtl

The tests were structured to be so unbelievably hard. It is difficult to be successful in this class. Even with as knowledgeable as Dr. Gillespie is, and the material as interesting as it is, I would not and do not recommend taking this class; definitely not for non-Anthro majors.

This class was one of the hardest classes i've ever taken. Seems like it would be interesting, but it really wasn't. Tests are based on choose the best answer of the right answers. I wouldn't recommend it, it was really tough to pull off a C.

This class is, so far, the only course I've had to actually try in. Not that the material was hard to understand, but Dr. Gillespie is so knowledgeable and she expects you to pick it up. Great.

This class was one of the most interesting ones I've ever taken (I took it 2 years ago). It's a LOT of information and terms to take in, but it was one of those classes where it always seems to fly by. I could listen to her talk about this stuff all day. You've gotta show up and listen; don't worry about the book too much. MC & matching exams.

She gives lectures and a couple tiny quizzes, all of which are clear and related, not tricky. Tests are straight from her lectures, the books are practically irrelevant. She has a genuine interest in the subject and exudes competence.

Has Favorites. Take this class with either a light class load! The last 2/3 of the sem. students teach 100% of the class. Therefore, class is very unclear & has little to do w/ tests. Schmoozing w/ the prof outside of class is req. for an 'A'. SOS!
