The lectures are pointless because when taking one of the quizzes everything he discussed is not on the quizzes and his wording on the quizzes are so confusing its nothing like the book. No extra credit, no outside help, no anything. You're basically on your own teaching yourself from google. I'm attempting to pass with at least a C.

He does not follow the provided rubric, does not answer emails in a timely manner or at all sometimes. Will take points off with no explanation or for nonsensical reasons like marking on the rubric that only one source was used when a minimum or two were required despite 10 being used and cited correctly. He destroyed my 4.0

I liked professor Cleaves but he leans a bit on the lazy side of things when it comes to making his quizzes and tries to throw you off with the wording on the questions. 2 test worth 55% of your grade and 8 quizzes, a group project and participation make up the other 45%. Just be ready to deal with a lot of work on your own

Please stay away from this teacher. Like everyone else has said, the whole class is just people talking about their options on the government. None of the questions that are on your quizzes or tests will be covered in class. 95% of our class failed the second quiz and talked to him about the unspecific and awkward wording he uses..

Mr. Cleaves was a really nice professor. His lectures were confusing and we didn't fully stay on one topic. Although the random topic's were interesting, they didn't help much with the quizzes. You will definitely need to have your book to be guided for the exams.

He was very friendly and funny, but terrible with technology and making tests. Most of the bad grades people got from the assignments were due to him being unclear, or outright making no sense. He was very enthusiastic about us learning and participating in government outside of class, but he didn't make the class easy, largely due to his mistakes.

Horrible teacher. Hard to follow, does not follow through with uploading quizzes, and very lazy as a teacher. Also, does not respond to emails. He gave me a 78 in the class when I had actually made an A. When I asked about my final grade, he would not admit to miscalculating my grade. I had to go around him to get my actual grade.

Mr. Cleaves is a very nice professor. His class is easy if you review the information he posts online. his class however is hard to learn in because he talks a lot about random things and also allows the students to comment so I learned more at home than in his class. had 8 quiz online, 2 exam in class , one group project

I dont think he is as hard as many of the reviews here say. You definitely need to read the chapters because of the quizzes, which as long as you read the book shouldnt be hard. Midterm and final are easy IF YOU READ but dont expect a study guide as he would just say read all the chapters So as long as you are willing to read,you WILL get an A

Mr. cleaves is a kind, funny, knowledgeable man. His classes are fun but he is a very strict grader and you will have to read a lot! he also gives 8 quizzes throughout the semester and a mid-term and final which make up the majority of your grade. if you're not willing to read, and study hard for his class you won't receive a good grade!

He never stood up in class, never wrote anything on the board, test had a lot of misprints, but he wont write his own, he gets his quizes from a website, and everything is scantron, he doesnt teach! he sits there and talks about stuff that have nothing to do with the task at hand!dont take this class

This guy is horrible. The questions on the tests are ridiculous, and none of his lectures coincide with any of them. You are required to attend class, and yes, he takes roll every day. He has absolutely no respect for his students and gives group work wherein all members of the group HAVE to meet at the same time in person. Don't take this class.
