I tood afoamerican studies with Dr. Gethaiga snd he was one of the best teachers I ever had. He inspired me to go to Kenya and learn about colonial influences on Kikuyu and Kenyan peoples. He leads by letting you find your way into the history. Highly recommend.

I thought the class was beyond EASY! The grading system was simple: 5 points for everything, except exams. Attendance isn't mandatory. Keep track of all your work. Nice guy. Take him if you want an easy A.

every1 is right in the fact that he is unorganized. every assignmnt is worth 5 pts which makes everything seem pointless. we had no final.just some map tests which he let us grade ourselves so we just wrote the answers in. i never read a book...he's really easy. make sure you stay on him about keeping track of ur work and u'll for sure get an A.

Dr. G doesn't hate white people-he hates LAZY people! I'm white, and I got an A in his classes, because I worked my butt off. Whereas most students do an absolute minimal amount of work, and then after receiving their grade, say woe is me,where's my A? The truth is garbage in, garbage out, doesn't just refer to computers! Quit whining and grow up!

Ok- I don't know what these people are talking about. If you really want a kick back class that will take work a semester late, not care if you miss class,never take attendence,watch some boring movies, write a few papers on books that you do not even have to read, take 1 pointless exam,listen to presentations,NO final, and easy A- Take him!!!!!!!!

HATED this class. stupid presentation that was only worth 5 points, like everything. no structure, no adherence to syllabus, grades were lost, i should get an A but who knows what will show up online. it was a class that i didnt worry about all semester-buffer for sure-but im a little anxious now about his unorganization. i should get an A.

Grading scale is so frustrating.Even at the end of the semester you don't know what your grade is. The presentation is a joke.If you had at least 5 slides and talked you get 10 pts?!?He is the worst teacher ever.Very unorganized, you can go the whole semester w/out doing any work and tell him he lost it and & you get credit.

Very disappointed. The lecture style was very frustrating. Most discussion was of his own opinion & I got very little sense of the "History" of racism. Devotes 6 weeks of class to student presentations. Grading scale strange (usually an "A" student, had a "C"). IF you agree with his opinion, you might do well.

nice...but...he's not that good of a teacher as far as the topic goes. he just lectures on his opinions and really doesnt come from the book...but then tests you on it. I didn't do that good on his tests and missed a few assignments but got an A...don't aske me how.
