Honestly, I have to say that I didn't really like her in the beginning of the term. The first few assignments using color-aid paper gets very annoying and sickening. But Wendy really cares alot about her student's development. She is truly helpful and I ended up enjoying her class. I really learned alot from her and her critiques. Great teacher!

Comment:

Incredible woman who is serious about art and design. She does have the "hip artsy mom" facter going for her, though. Be prepared to sculpt with clay, manipulate chipboard, and have a blast.

Wendy is an amazing teacher. You are lucky to get her from the large array of work you will be creating. She teaches you to understand object and form using simple materials. She plays both mother roles. One giving assignments with strict rules and limitations, which you can not break. Two providing you flexible help on how to tackle her projects.

I wasn't a fan of Wendy's kind of fakey mothering attitude (like the commenter below), and sometimes she'll spend critiques hinting at what she wants to hear until someone finally says it. That being said, she's motivating, does know a lot about Design, and I feel like I learned a lot of good tips and tricks in her class.

Wendy is fantastic! She is challenging but she really cares about her students. Unlike many of the teachers I've had, she's entirely sane, which is a nice break. She doesn't put up with laziness and she has very helpful critiques even if they are a bit long. Loved her class!

I loved going to wendy's class. She taught me so much about design, and everyone in my section put her class first because we all knew she cared about us, so we cared about her assignments. She pushes you, but you can tell her when it's too much and she'll understand. most inspiring and best teacher i've had yet :)

I loved wendy. She totally changed my world about what I thought 3d design was about. Extremely helpful, very kind. Direct and clear. Completely Honest. If you have Wendy be prepared to have the best teacher of your life, potentially. Also, be prepared to work so hard.

Wendy is amazing. She is the best teacher I have had foundation year by far. I came to RISD thinking I would fail miserably at 3D but Wendy taught me so much. She genuinely cares about her students and takes the time to get to know each person individually. If you get her, consider yourself lucky.

Wendy is the best teacher you'll have freshman year. You'll learn alot and feel totally comfortable in her class. Plus her class is always work time instead of hour long crits. SERIOUSLY the best teacher I ever had.

Wendy is a very nice person, with good intentions. She is more interested in finished work and craftsmanship, than conceptual development and creativity. Projects are product oriented and not always learning experiences. Evaluation and critiques can be superficial and ambiguous. Most students will find the class very gratifying.

Wendy is an awesome teacher. She really cares about her students on a personal level and pushes everyone to do his or her best work. Her assignments are useful and very clear, and she is extremely consistent and objective in her critiques.
