I've taken every single class she has taught. She's truly amazing. Not easy, but not hard. She appreciates hard work and participation and takes that into consideration with grading. She is also very knowledgeable with what she teaches.

I love her, as a person. If you have a personal issue going on, and you need to be open and honest with a professor, she will have your back 10/10. But she is not an easy professor, her rubrics are not always the most descriptive and she is very nitpicky about her papers. Shes your OG English prof, and that means shes not gonna take BS.

She is a very hard grader, not clear on rubrics of what she expects and on the feedback for the essays she nitpicks every last detail and is rude. She expects a graduate-level essay for a 100 level course and wants everything to be really specific. She will allow rewrites on all the essays but don't expect any much of a boost in grade.

Professor Castaldo is an extremely hard grader. It's her way or the highway. She thinks she teaches an advanced English course when she is only teaching English 101. She lets you rewrite papers but if you're like me, you will have to rewrite. She is available for extra help but expects too much. Only take her if you are very very good at writing.

Dr. Castaldo is a very good teacher and keeps class interesting but she is a very tough grader on papers. Never had a problem with writing papers before her class. She is not very clear on exactly what she wants you to write but she makes up for it allowing rewrites on every paper if necessary. Besides that she is very willing to help students

Castaldo is honestly an amazing and experienced teacher. If you do what she says on the small assignments you will definitely get the full grade for it. When it comes to papers she can be tough. I got A's on every one, but I know this was not the case for the majority of the class. Her prompts sometimes are not clear, but if you ask she will help!

She listens to what you have to say and she is not biased at all. She is flexible with due dates and she helps you a lot with the papers that you do write. She is an awesome professor, and definitely my favorite in the english department. Her classes are always fun and she legit knows everything about any book or author... and history.

Idk what other commenters are talking about on here. Castaldo is currently my favorite 300 level ENG prof and this is my 1st semester with her. She doesn't put you down if you don't have her opinion--I constantly say my views, and they are not always hers. People say she is a tough grader, but I haven't gotten below a 90 on anything. Very easy to get a good grade in the class. Attendance was not mandatory but if you missed a certain amount of in-class writing assignment it would effect your grade. In-class writing was very easy if you read the assignment. She is extremely nice and does her best so you can get a good grade in the class.

The class was an Honors Colloquium. While I liked the actual class, she was a terror when it came to the writing portion, which made up a majority of our grade. If she didn't think I could argue the topic I chose, she should've had me pick another. Her comments seem less like constructive criticism and more like personal attacks. Don't take her.

Terrible teacher in the sense that she always thinks she is right and puts down other people's opinions. I enjoy having my thoughts challenged, but she often gets to the point where she tells students that they are wrong! I am trying to never have to take her again... However, she was usually very insightful and gave helpful comments on papers.

she is the best!! the topic she chose was wuite boring but she actually changed the class to fit us. you do alot of writing in there but she allows rewrites and rough drafts. you can meet with her and she will review any paper and give feedback. you can then turn in a new copy to be graded. she is very kind and helpul. great prof!!

I was in her Buffy Freshman Seminar, very amazing woman. Insightful and funny - down to earth, treats students with respect and is very flexible with due dates (and such). Great teacher!
