One of my favorite professors! He is very nice. There is a required textbook that you need to purchase in order to pass the class. The tests are based heavily on the reading. Attendance and participation count!

I loved him. He is very strict, but he would respect you if you participate and respect his rules which include no phone, no taking, no bathroom unless you have to, no latness. I learned a lot about world music. There is a lot of history talkes which I loved. One MC Mid and MC final, a long paper based on a concert you must attend. Reading provided

The class was harder than I expected. You have to buy a ticket and visit a concert for paper. As for tests, you need to remember many difficult terms and names, songs. Professor really cares about you being on time/attendance; if you are late, he marks you as absent. Tons of notes to write; they are part of your grade. Professor is kind, organized.

You are required to purchase a tkt to go see a classical concert that is NOT $25. Lectures are boring but if you take notes, you will pass. If you are late, you are marked absent. Grades come from a midterm, take home final, writing about classical concert, and collecting your notebook at end of semester. I fell asleep all the time & got an A- .

Difficult exams and assignments, but very fair in grading. Many quizzes to make up your grade in case you are following behind. Reading and listening is tough and very important for the tests. He is very open and friendly with students.

Professor was very boring; gave lectures ea class that weren't interesting. Plus side: no group work. REQUIRED to buy a classical music concert tkt that is $50 and up minus tax. Attendance is necessary; 1 late1 absence. Take good notes & you'll pass. 2 tests that are fairly easy (midterm/final) and concert review. Prof does NOT like phones out

He can be strict, but pretty reasonable. I LOVE music, so I really enjoyed his class. He showed documentaries, gave pretty cool assignments, and introduced me to so many artists. He's very serious and knowledgeable about music (probably because he's established and is even an author), but he's very difficult if you really WANT to do the work.

Pros: Professor Piza is extremely caring and he makes music sound very interesting, there are a few tests: 1 is a midterm which is focused mostly on 2 chapters only and a final which is part take home and part listening. TBH you dont have to torture yourself with studying as he is extremely lenient about grading. Con: could'v covered more countrys

You won't regret taking him!!! You might find his lectures are kinda boring but it pays off on his exams. Pretty clear and easy exams and at the end he gives a take home final essay which is pretty easy to get 100. Just don't slack off like me.

Nice guy but has some ridiculous classroom rules such as not being able to leave to go to the bathroom. His lectures are pretty in depth, if you read the textbook and listen to the musical pieces regularly, the exams will be a breeze for you. If you want an A, you have to work for it!

Great professor who takes the time to get to know all students and assist freshman transition in this freshman level course. The content presented in lectures and readings are interesting and the class was extremely easy. As long as you take notes and attempt to participate it should be an Easy A.

This adjunct has such an unclear grading criteria... wish I could go back in time and not take his class. Find yourself a real music professor and avoid this low tier adjunct. He assigns too much work (which I completed and also did extra credit) yet I received a much lower grade than expected. I should've reported this to the department.

A lot of work for an intro music class, but not very hard work: collects in-class notes and reading notes, asks for concert review paper, a midterm, and two finals (one take-home). His tests are really not the easiest but at least they are multiple choice and he provides options to choose from for the listening part. Read, attend, you'll do alright

He really is an easy A. He made us attend a music event that we based our essay on, had an in class midterm and final (they were fair), and barely any homework. I didnt even do any of the readings the entire semester and still got an A-. If you need an easy class to balance out any hard ones, he is your guy. Just dont be late or absent.

Midterm and Final are very difficult and you are required to see a concert now. Do not take if looking for an easy A. Even some of the diligent students did not do well on the Midterm or Final.

He is the best music professor! Yes, his midterm and final are so hard, but he provides extra credits on the take home essay exam. In additional, you should take notes from textbooks and his lecture, remember listen the CDs is also important, which required you to remember the name of work and the name of composers.
