I really don't know why most of the post on here are negative. Barb is a great person, she just want you to try hard and be in the class as she is. I found this class very helpful. Barb is there to help you she always makes you feel like you can do it. I enjoyed this class with her.

I wish i would have known these comments before, she is biased and I can attest to that, there was another girl with me trying to make up a test and she cried and I didn't, Simpson gave her simpathy and glared at me the whole time. Failed the class, hate the teacher, but i love the subject.

If you read the book and participate in class you will do good. Try to be open-minded. Other than reading...really only 3-4 assignments. You have the opportunity to learn about yourself and other cultures. She will not make exceptions for you if you are not putting in effort.

Please avoid this teacher, without a doubt the worst teacher I've ever had at Clark College. Does not have a clue whta she is talking about, and is completely unopen to opinions other than her own. The only two countries she EVER talks about is China and Ecuador. Very, VERY horrible teacher.

God how I wish I had read this before taking that class. She is exactally what all of the previous statments attest to. Detached, rude, unapproachable, unbending, unfair, she treats everyone like they are beneath her, talks incessantly with her personal examples, quizzes before the chapter is even discussed! Avoid like the plague! Trust me!!

I would never take this professor again. Before going into this class I was extremely interested in this subject but she didn't make me anymore interested. I haven't learned much and she is very unsympathetic. She gives more work in a three credit class than I have in any of my five credit classes. And she is very unclear in her teaching style.

Simpson knows her material. She is helpful, if you ask for help. She is unsympathetic and detached from her students. However, when communicating with her, remember to use the skills you are learning in class and you'll be fine. This teacher comes with good material and lots of personal baggage. What an interpersonal communication experience!

She was one of the worst teachers I've ever had!! She has no sympathy, is very disconnected from her students, and can be downright rude. She is very defensive and tends to make excuses for everything she does, yet won't bend the rules even a little bit for a student. We had a group presentation - disaster!!! DON'T TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!

Very insecure teacher - needs to put students down in order to feel good about herself. She cannot answer direct questions where depth of understanding is required. Very poor people skills, in fact I don't think she likes people. Avoid taking any class with her, life is too short to pay good money just to be abused.

Tests on minutia. Worst professor/teacher I've had in my entire life. Has horrible listening skills, no concept of understanding other people. Even when students challenge a wrong answer with correct, in text data, grades not corrected. Class lecture consisted of anectdotal nonsense unrelated to test. Quizes were given prior to lecture on topics.

I though Simpsons calss was pretty easy. However the work load for a 4 credit class was a little much between the cultural encounters, reading and the major project. Her tests were always multiple choice, but the essay part sucked but if you had skimmed the chapters your good. I didnt however get a whole lot out of the class.

RRrrrr. Why didn't I find this web site earlier! Beware, Barbra is awfull.Got a D in her class because she had no idea what she was doing. Sooo true, if you get on her bad side you'll know it. Did project w/friend in class, almost identical he got a B+ and I got C-??? FLAT OUT NO GOOD TEACHING.Oh,she'll mark you wrong if SHE falsly see's a mistake.

Worst teacher ever! She read out of the book for 50 minutes what we were assigned to have already read.What a waste of my time. She says students don't respect teachers,and I wonder...
