Dr. McGlade is passionate about geography & has put a lot of time/effort into putting together quality material. Grading criteria is clear, study guides are great, and grades on a curve. If you study all material, you will get an A. Classes are reading heavy so don't take him if you don't want to read & write. I love his classes & learned tons.

For spring term, it was different because of the remote delivery. This class seemed more as something that prepared me for a test rather than a class where I learned. I feel like the teacher should learn more about how to deliver lectures better. Overall, he is a nice guy!

McGlade is an okay professor sometimes. His lectures make people fall asleep sometimes and he may speak slow or fast.

He is extremely boring. He will just stand there reading from his power points and then will randomly go off topic. You have to really teach yourself outside of class to pass his question heavy test, where his study guides are useless.

The topic is interesting and McGlade knows his stuff, however the class is long and boring. Mainly just lectures for the whole time with the occasional video. Tests are kind of tough-doesn't give a real study guide but goes over test the week before. Study and you'll be fine. Occasional homework or map quiz. I showed up 6/10 times and still got a B

Good: Wonderful lectures on fascinating topics (culture, physical geog., ecology, etc). You will learn so much from McGlade. Bad: Not always clear what parts of lectures are relevant, study guides are not exhaustive. Ugly: Tons of reading, big term paper, map quiz basically a midterm unto itself, very hard midterm and final. This is not easy.

He mumbles through his text-heavy power points. Gets off topic waaaay too much. Only grades 3 exams. (Fail those, fail the class) Our class was failing so he had to throw in ridiculously easy open note quizzes to get our grades to passing.

He is extremely boring. Maybe it's the subject matter. He does pop quizzes, so don't skip. The class is basically all lecture.

He shows multiple movies in this class. His tests are only hard if you don't study. He is super passionate about the topics and even climbed up on a desk in order to impersonate a deer. Because of this professor I found a minor a love that focusses on geography.

Great at making the subject fun and interesting. One of my favorite LACC courses so far. Grades consist of pop quizzes (flip a coin on Mondays), and three exams. You really need to show up to class though, because there are notes and discussion in class that aren't in the reading.

His lecture can be boring, but he explains everything in depth. If you are a visual learner, he is the way to go. 3 tests throughout the midterm, but everything on the notes is on the test. Very clear.

He requires a lot of reading and demands students to complete online tests during a certain window (hour and a half) during the week. It seems like online classes should be more flexible than that. He's not a bad teacher, I just wouldn't recommend taking an online course from him.

McGlade's lectures are really long and boring, but he's so into the topic that it kind of makes you want to learn more. The tests aren't that hard... just gotta study a few hours. He grades on a curve too. I got C's on all 3 tests and got an A in the class. He also loves telling stories about his vacations and the ever-changing weather.

Human Migration. I took this course online during the summer as one of my 1st courses @ WOU. Wow what a hard class! Tons of Reading! Quizzes every week at daybreak! Did I mention a ton of reading? Read 3 novels cover to cover in 5 weeks. I took this class at the same time as 410D. Read over 5000 pages in 5 weeks! This class is reading intense

I had a geography of Oregon class at another college and still learned a lot. McGlade is knowledgeable and speaks fast at times. The map test was a pain and had a lot of tiny towns that are rather irrelevant and not the county seats. The class website is hard to follow with material all over the place. Mike talks a lot about Mexicans in ORE.

He's a great prof, very helpful, too and is not too hard of a grader. however, his lectures are extremely boring and are guaranteed to put you to sleep. I took him for physical geography and cultural geography... interesting subjects, but boring lectures.

The first 2/3 of this class dragged on. He mumbles a lot when he is trying to explain something. The last section in the class was pretty interesting and he actually had slide shows not chicken scratchings for us to take notes. Only one project and 3 tests, no final. I'd take it again!
