Comment:
This class was incredibly disorganized and hard to sit through lectures sometimes. Dr. Spaulding is great but this class was my least favorite. He took forever to grade and I had no idea how I stood in his class before finals.

Professor Spaulding is one of the best profs i have ever had. He has a great passion for literature and helps students gain that same type of love for reading. He always gives great insight into reading and he is very funny take him if you can the class isn't too hard!

He is occasionally funny, but the lectures are unbearable. They are basically an hour of rambling in which you might learn one thing the whole time. Pick another Prof.

Comment:
He's not very helpful in deciphering the text. Don't expect him to give you much. Anything helpful will need to be pulled out of him. He is often low on energy due to chronic illness. He decides not to give tests and quizzes on a whim. Extremely slow to grade. If you have singed up for his class, drop it and take another section.

Grades ambiguously, feedback unhelpful, goes off on tangents and apologizes when he can't get to the actual lecture.

Comment:
(Brit Lit) Prof is nice and open to questions. but he goes on too many tangents and switches between topics with no indication of their relevancy, which hurts exam grades. in the class period, students barely have to participate so its boring. there should be less lecture and more analysis of text. his group project is stressful for the type A.

Spaulding is a soft-spoken and eccentric man. It's not hard to imagine him as a young student muttering under his breath in the back of a classroom. His low-key excitement and charisma for poetry and literature is the mainstay that drives the class to succeeding.

Do not take for an upper division class. He'll grade you unfairly (in my opinion), he'll go off-topic, and he'll expect the type of graduate-level work he admits he couldn't achieve until recently. He'll email at 12:19 am the night before the final to tell you that his study guide is incomplete and you will need to know more for the final at 1 pm.

One of my favorite profs. Never left a class without bursting into laughter at least twice. He's got my kind of sense of humor, but he also knows what he's talking about, and you can tell he is very passionate about literature. Taking notes is very important!!! (no textbook except what you're reading)..

He is really weird and doesn't explain anything at all. He goes on random tangets about nothing and his lectures relate nothing at all to do with what we are reading and the tests have nothing to do with the lecture. A bit strange class and try to take with a professor that gives more clarity than him.

I love the guy. I'd hang out with him any day. But his class? I didn't care for it - the tests are extremely difficult. I received the lowest grade in this class out of any class I've taken in my college career. I resented him many a day in class, but I love the man while outside of the classroom.

weird prof who makes world lit 30 times harder than it should be. talks about his daughter's bunnies and cats and not mowing sections of his lawn for the wild butterflies.

He was hilarious. I loved his class. And he was really sweet when I got sick. I told him I was sorry for missing class and he said, "No, no, you stay home and get better!" Tests were definitely hard, I didn't study enough for them. But he's definitely a fun professor. RECOMMENDED!
