so funny. but also a genuine person as well. he is not only outstandingly intelligent and versed in the field of sociology, but he genuinely cares about his students as human beings. Dr. Lowe is easily one of the best professors in the Sociology department and at SUNY Oneonta as a whole.

funny guy. tries too hard sometimes. lots of group presentations. gives a few grades at the end of the year. a few conceptual summaries that are graded harshly. very nice guy who understands when students need a break. usually let us out of class early

He's great. Super funny, and breaks up the class evenly between tests and homework. If you're a bad test-taker, you can make up the points by doing well on homework. He keeps you awake with jokes and takes attendance seriously. Took this class as an elective and wasn't disappointed!

I thought this class was going to be much easier than it was. He lectures for the full class time, does not give study guides but has the entire class make up 10 questions each and sends that to everyone. He is open for students to ask questions.

Anybody who gives professor Lowe a bad grade is because they are lazy and didnt want to put in the effort. I had a hard time with the material and professor Lowe was more than willing to help me outside of class. His jokes are great, anyone who complains about his jokes has no sense of humor.

Lecture heavy and a tough grader. The tests are only based on the books and he doesnt even talk about them in class. Tries to be funny by saying weird sexual jokes or cursing and its annoying. Theres so many notes that dont relate to things and definitely dont help.

Took this class based on the reviews here. Dont listen to them. We have three wordy annoying books that were required to read. The tests are 95% the chapters in the books and nothing with lecture. He doesnt talk about the books in class and they hardly relate to anything were doing. DONT TAKE HIM

Professor Lowe was by far the best processor I have every had. Not only is he a good educator but a good person. He is very understanding when it comes to personal issues interfering with school and is also very accommodating in helping you raise your grade. I cannot say enough good things about Brian Lowe. Helpful hint always choose "D"!

Dr. Lowe has truly been the greatest professor Ive had the pleasure to encounter in my college career. He cares about his student. He rarely just lectures, instead Dr. Lowe keeps the class in a discussion based on the days topic. Makes the rather dull topic of theory interesting. Truly a great man would highly recommend to anyone.

Lowe is a great professor! He makes the material interesting. If another professor lectured this class it would be dull. Attend class, read the texts and study hard. Graded based on participation, six quizzes (30 questions each) and the final exam (half cumulative, half new material covered since the last quiz). Attendance opt. but recommended.

Dr. Lowe is a nice, funny person. He tries to make lecture interesting, but they're actually confusing. He uses language that is difficult to understand. His examples are often things that I have never heard of or cannot relate to. His papers are difficult. I still do not know what he wants out of them.

Lowe is easily the best professor this campus has to offer. At time's he can be a hard grader, but he's always fair and more than happy to help with revision's and extra help. His personality makes the most boring topics something I looked forward to each class. Down to earth, funny, and keeps you interested in the topic at hand.

One of the best professors I've had at Oneonta. Lectures are pretty interesting and funny. Definitely study for tests a couple days ahead. There was one group project that is very easy.

Prof. Lowe is by far one of the best professor's at Oneonta; the school is truly lucky to have him. He is incredibly friendly, has a great sense of humor in class, and makes the material generally easy with fair grading. Social Class is great; one simple book report, couple quizzes, couple tests (he curves almost everything). AWESOME professor.

Great guy, funny and not afraid to curse. Easy to talk to. Quizzes and tests can be a little difficult but he usually curves to about a B average. Material is boring (all about sociologists and theories) but he tries to make it interesting (somewhat).

Best SOCL professor on campus. He knows EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING. He's hilarious and he makes boring material, not completely tedious. Curves his test. Very nice guy. Tests are fair but hard if you don't STUDY. Take notes, sometimes emails powerpoints but not always. Don't miss class.
