Comment:
Dr. Stewart is a good professor. The lectures are ok, but one good thing about them is that every lecture he gives 1-2 exam questions. If you dont show up you miss out on them. The exams are easy if you study and listen in lecture, but make sure you do good in recitation because the quizzes can sometimes be tricky. He is very funny too so take him!

Brian may first come across as boring but his lectures always have subtle humor mixed in which keeps you engaged. This is a good class for non-science majors if youre looking to satisfy a gen ed and Brian understands that. 2 mid terms and a final, all multiple choice. Go to lecture, he often gives you the answers to some exam questions.

Hes a great professor who tries to make his lectures more engaging. Most of the exams are word for word from the lecture slides, so you should not skip his class.

Incredibly boring class, very boring lecturer. If you do not attend class you will not get the full notes, but the notes are also pretty useless, not much info on the slides. Study guides do not help. Recitation is an easy grade, but adds nothing to your overall knowledge of the class. Take any other NS for a GenEd requirement

Brian is an extremely nice guy! His exams are easy if you study and he usually curves them. His lectures are kinda boring and I barely pay attention but he gives out a really in depth study guide. I used the study guide and reading questions to study for the exams and I did well on them so far. Would recommend!

Amazing lecturer. Tells funny jokes that seem to go over most student's heads.

If you don't go to class, it's very difficult to pass the class. His lectures are dry and boring. He doesn't provide study materials, or post the class notes. Recitations are a reading-based quiz and a horribly mundane packet that I can't say enhanced by knowledge or helped prepare for the exams.

Stewart's test are pretty straight forward and if you pay attention in class and review the slides before the tests you'll do fine. The worst part of class is recitation in which their is a quiz and packet each week. The quizzes always seemed kind of behind what we were doing in class and the activity packets were very harshly graded by the TA.

Honestly the easiest class I've ever taken in college, akin to a mid-level high school class in difficulty. Professor Stewart is funny and kind, and he understands that most of his students are taking the class for a gen ed requirement, and works with that. This class is a great choice.

Overall good teacher. He is very nice and accommodating when going to office hours. Notes are clear and easy to follow. Always do the online reading questions - material is on exam. Tests are all multiple choice. Better than most. I would take him again.

Stewart is the man. He has a great sense of humor and uses it well to offset his kind of monotonous voice. I didn't have much interest in geology but it became one of my favorite classes, mostly because of Stewart. Uses powerpoint slides and reading questions to make his tests. Go to lecture, it's not that bad. Great way to get rid of a NS

This was a pretty easy class. I am awful at science and pulled off a B+ and arguably should have gotten higher. Prof. Stewart knows his stuff, however lecture is pretty boring. His tests are extremely fair and he says he curves (but didn't for us). Recications are harder than class and way harder than they should be.

Awesome professor! Makes hilarious jokes but no one ever laughs for some reason. As long as you go to class, take notes, and go to recitations, its an easy A. If you're really lazy it could be hard, but probably not.

Don't take this class if you are looking to get an easy A. Exams are pretty difficult and there are no study guides. Attend class and recitations--recitation quizzes are pretty easy, but the difficulty of the exams are disproportionate to the quizzes.

Although he's a bit dry, he sometimes make quick, witty jokes. He gets a little bit long winded, especially when talking about geochemistry, which is his specialty. The recitations were harder than class. Go to class! His lectures are really well organized. If you take good notes, you should do fine on the quizzes.

He's very knowledgeable and makes the class interesting. Tests come right from the notes so if you go to class you should be fine. I only took the class to fill a requirement but I ended up liking it and learning a lot too.
