Stay away! This professor takes forever to grade papers. You get immediate results through his quizzes but papers took a month to get graded. The class average for the final was around 68%. He sets you up to fail only giving 325 points to earn. If you don't get a good grade on one paper, you won't earn a high grade for the course. No extra credit!

Do not take this class for an easy A. The quizzes are easy but only worth a small part of your grade. Two papers & he took forever to grade, which left me unsure of how I was doing in the class & his grading was a little wonky. The final is all essay questions & if you don't read/listen to the notes & read the book, you're screwed.

I love him. He's extremely helpful, and gives lots of examples. DEFINITELY remember examples, he likes to use a lot on his tests. Tests are hard, very hard. But review the material a week prior and you're set. don't think its an easy course, and don't forget your clicker!

I hate math. I hated math. I will always hate math. But somehow in a class with about a 50% failure rating I got a B. Study hard. Utilize help. Anything is possible.. I never went past Algebra 1 in high school and I got a C in that. Just takes hard work.

Class was interesting at times. He was very clear about what was expected to make a good grade. When I took his class it was a large lecture and I remember him making people sing in front of the class if their phone rang in lecture....that was funny

Dr. Porter is a great professor. He has great enthusiasm for statistics, which is hard to come by! His tests are hard, but this is a mandatory class for psych majors, so who wants to be cheated out of their education? Great prep for 318! He's not too bad on the eyes either...

Dr. Porter is an AMAZING teacher. Do the homework, read the book and you are golden! He is very approachable and very realistic. Takes time to answer everyones ?'s and answers clearly. If you need something, he will help. I HIGHLY recommend for Quant. Methods. Very clear expectations and is hilarious! Overall GREAT teacher. SHOW UP to class!!!

Good teacher...really knows how to explain things...but god forbid don't let anything happen in your life to make you have to skip class. The only valid reason he excepted was during the VT shootings but other than that...forget it!

A great teacher for the typical college freshman, especially slackers. Attend class regularly, take notes, study a little at a time... and you'll come out with an A. Tests can be tricky if you don't memorize all of the material. Miss class and you'll miss a good show, this guy's a comedian.

I loved this class! yes you do have to show up if you want to recieve a good grade, quiz everyday READ! and take notes on the reading and youll do fine. very interesting lectures. 4 exams..only counts best 3.. people say if you miss work he isnt sympathatic..drops 2 quiz grades(2 days to miss) DO YOUR RESEARCH LABS! EASY AND BIG PART OF YOUR GRADE

Porter's a good teacher. He made the lectures fun & interesting, never boring so it keeps you up. The class is hard if you don't read; easy if you do read. Keep up with the readings because it helps you on the clicker quizzes - which you have every class time. Work hard, don't slack & you'll definitely pass !

Great teacher, always keeps class interesting and informative. A lot of needed textbook reading and out-of-class assignments, but you'll learn a lot as long as you go to classes, which are worth the effort. Highly recommended.
